  1. Can someone help me with OPES summer School dates please? I wanted to book my DD for week 2 (I think) but their website doesn't work since before Christmas. Or is it just me who can't get it to work? It is asking me for a "guest password"? I did contact then through FB and Olivia said they will sort it out but it's still not fixed and I need to know the dates. Edited to ask - do you think that OPES SS is as good/challenging for vocational students as YBSS or Masters of Ballet?
  2. So all the worry about choosing a voc upper school with an option of A levels for a possible university in the future is only for those who can pay for the full university fees
  3. I am completely lost here... sorry for a silly and simple question: If a DC receive a Dada to voc upper school (Royal, Tring, Elmhurst etc) then later this DC will NOT receive a student loan if decides to go to university? Even if the DC does 2 years (A level) and not the graduates year (diploma)?
  4. Happy Birthday! Big thank you to the moderators and to all the forum members. I don't think I'd have made it through the last 4 years without this forum!
  5. I'm sorry Armydancer it's a "no" this time from Tring but hopefully there will be good news from Elmhurst after finals!
  6. Letters are out! My DS got a place at school (which we can't afford) and invitation to MDS finals in March!
  7. Hopefully just until Friday or Saturday Armydancer
  8. No front splits for lower school. It was hamstring stretch, spine stretch, frogs and box split.
  9. Yes! Well done to all 3 Elmhurst students! Good luck for finals!
  10. We received our letter today. It's a "yes" for lower school finals in March :-)
  11. Good luck to your DS Armydancer. My DS is very excited (and nervous!) See you in the morning
  12. Thank you all. I'm glad I wasn't the only one not able to find the application form. Ballet boost SS sounds great but it's end of July, I need to find something at the beginning of August. Would be grateful for any other sugestions.
  13. My DD would like to attend a good summer school this August (apart from her usual Ballet Cymru) but she decided she spends too much time away from home in her voc. school and doesn't won't to go to a residential SS anymore (so not Opes or YBSS as previously planned). I understand ENBS SS is day time only? Does anybody Remember what time classes started and finished every day? I understand they are held in school premises? There isn't much info on school website, just dates, fees and photos needed. I can't even find an application we need to send? Do I need to email them and ask for one? How easy (or hard) it is to get a place? Reasonable or almost impossible like RBS SS? Any feedback from those who attended last year will be appreciated. Edited to add that my DD would be in the younger group B.
  14. That's very kind thing to say Armydancer. If you don't need to wait for MDS auditions in March you will know before Christmas (hopefully!) if your DS has a place at Tring. That's not a long wait.
  15. 2 years ago if I remember well there were around 10 (if not more) boys at finals, but it might have been a mix of year 7-11. Generally because of very limited MDS offers there aren't many boys at Tring (on dance course) A year or 2 ago there where only 2 or 3 in year 7. More boys join later apparently. Boys have their everyday ballet class together with girls and have only a separate boys only class with male teacher if possible while girls have their point class. That was worrying me a bit but then the school produced some great dancers and more then once Tring boys got in to RBS upper school so the training is very good.
  16. Did they say how long you will need to wait for the results? I hope that our results after 6th Dec will arrive before Christmas!
  17. It is hard for them to predict how many places there will be available in year 9 next year. I know of one girl leaving current year 8 soon. There might be more leaving or assest out later during the school year (or there might not). Year 8 and 9 are in the same house so the number of available beds also depends on the numbers of girls in current year 7. Will there be any leaving or joining - hard to tell. Good to hear that your DD enjoyed the audition, good luck to her!
  18. I thought the first audition wasn't till Monday 5th? Edited to add that yes, there was one on Monday 28th! I also would like to hear from anybody who was there. It's very quite on the "auditions" side of the forum this year
  19. Today's preliminary auditions were the same for boys and girls, very similar to how they were 2 years ago when my DD auditioned (if not exactly the same). I think that the finals might be different as boys and girls have separate auditions, maybe they are looking for/checking different things in boys? But maybe not, I have no idea, sorry
  20. Thank you for good luck wishes! My DS came out happy so he had a good ballet class and a day off school ????. Results should arrive in 7-10 days. There were 24 children in his group (7 boys), all trying for year 7.
  21. good luck to all DC auditioning at Elmhurst tomorrow. My DS is nervous but excited at the same time. We are in our hotel already and DS is looking forwards to full English in the morning.
