  1. Royal Ballet School JA tracksuit (top and bottoms), used but in good condition. Only worn for part of year 6 and is the new design for JAs. £20 plus postage.
  2. @Tiredtoes yes it is! Please let me know if you'd like it.
  3. An excellent program that takes dancers through the processes of flexibility in order to get into the splits. Uses many different exercises to help students. Written by physiotherapist, Lisa Howell from 'The Ballet Blog'. My daughters used the program and it worked wonders! £40 plus postage
  4. Hi ckswartz, The best place to stay is definitely Sheen and the nearest gate to WL is Sheen Gate. The residential areas of Sheen are pretty easy driving, nothing like Central London. You could walk to WL from Sheen Gate, it's not that far (if you couldn't get Uber). It is a lovely walk through the park.
  5. Spax, out of interest, when is YDA summer fete? I haven't seen it advertised. Thanks.
  6. DD's teacher told us about the day at RAD and I looked on the website and couldn't find any info at all! DD had never done a competition before to I'm glad it was such a positive experience for her. I'd definitely recommend it to other dancers.
  7. Well DD did the London region class which was for those who'd passed grade 3,4 or 5 with distinction. There were about 30 in the class, aged between 10-14, DD is 10. The teacher was lovely and DD really loved doing it. The students had to do a variety of 'routines' (that might be the wrong word!), port de bras, etc, all together then in rows. They all did really well. The class was 1 hr 15 and then the judges (2) went out to decide on the finalists. The other RAD reps did a raffle while they were deciding and we won a teaset! After about 10 mins they came out and chose about 8 girls. The final was about 2 hours later, but DD didn't get through, so I don't know what happened then!
  8. Is anyone's DD or DS doing any of the RAD competitions at Battersea tomorrow? DD is and she's never done a comp before and we've no idea what to expect! Any experience/thoughts greatly received! Thanks
  9. Thanks Spannerandpony and Janet! Totally agree with Drdance - especially your last paragraph - spent a fortune at the chiropractor!
  10. This is my first post so hello everyone! My DD's teacher told me she thought she had one leg longer than the other about a year ago. I could definitely see some asymmetry-one shoulder higher than the other, one trouser leg longer and her hips looked different. I was really concerned so went to a chiropractor who said one hip was rotated. She saw him for a bit and there was little improvement. She then went to a lady, twice, who did myo-fascial release. She said that it was tight muscles causing the 'twisting' in the trunk. Since then I've concentrated on doing stretching with my DD, especially her QL muscle and around the neck area and she now doesn't have the trouser length difference and her shoulders are more even. We're waiting for an appointment for the orthopaedic consultant, but to be honest, she's looking more symmetrical now, so I don't think they'll do anything. DD is 10 and does ballet 4 times a week as well as tap/modern. I wonder whether she ended up 'tight' because her teachers don't do any stretching after lessons? I don't know. It was hugely worrying at the time, so I totally feel for you.
