  1. My friend looked and it only mentioned intermediate grade and points for grade 6 and above.
  2. I was wondering if any one can help my daughter is due to take her Inter foundation Ballet Exam soon and a friend as just told me that they have stopped giving UCAS points for this exam. Can anyone else confirm this.
  3. Has anyone every heard of anyone getting off the reserve lists for year 9 or 10 places.
  4. Swan princess my dd wants to be a dancer and I have always been to be honest always trying to put her off till recently. I had a meeting with her CAT program teacher and she was so lovely, she said the journey of a dancer has so many bends and turns through illness, injury etc. And so many other careers not just in performance. In fact their dance physiotherapist was a RBS dancer who injured her knee and never looked back so the future is bright. Good luck on your journey, I tell my daughter if your want to be a doctor you can if you want to be a dancer you can too both very hard and tough jobs. Good luck.
  5. Hi Ebony I think my dd and yours were in the same audition we are in the same boat although it is very generous of the school to offer a bursary like you we can't afford to accept. My dd s friend got offered a mds a few years ago two days before he started in September so my dd is hoping this will happen to her. If not by then I am sure she will have forgotten or be planning the next year to audition. Good luck but I think the ride isn't over yet for some.
  6. Anyone been lucky to get offered a place yet off the reserve lists, we have been offered a bursary which we had to turn down as still unaffordable. Hope someone as some good news to share.
  7. What's the difference between the reserve list and waiting list or is it the same thing?.
  8. It was a no win situation in our house I always wanted her to try at sixteen so all a bit of a shock her getting offered a place but least she now knows she is good enough to go and can try next year if she wants to put herself through it again. Everything happens for a reason and I believe what will be will be. Good luck with your dd and her dancing.
  9. Hi. I got our letter this morning my dd is also on the reserve list for a mda award. Ebony on my letter it's under the dear mr and mrs bit. Just mentions the successful candidates have till the 8th of April to accept. Hope this helps. X They both did very well for getting this far which means they are at the standard for a vocational school.
  10. I think they said they would look through the videos of the auditions for the older girls. There was quite a lot at of older girls in our audition be interested to see how many got offers.
  11. Well done to your dd ebony, my dd is happy just to get a place she could only go to the school on a mds which she is well aware of. Hope fully we will find out the outcome by the end of next week. Good luck.
  12. My dd auctioned too on 3rd march for year 9 place. She rang me this morning saying she was sitting a maths and English test for the hammond and had her letter come. At that point we had not received anything until I read my email confirming she has been offered a place and that the letter was in the post confirming this.
  13. Hi Lyndsaye, Pendleton college has a very good reputation for musical theatre courses and dance. My daughter dances and a friend of mine lives in the area couldn't praise it high enough. I was in fact in the area before Christmas and can honestly say the area was clean and well kept and considering it being a city was better than any of the areas i have taken my daughter to for summer schools in the past. I live in Cornwall and have for the past twenty years when my daughter is sixteen she wants to audition for the northern ballet school in Manchester have you thought about about auditioning there as well. Good luck
  14. It was a no for my daughter for year 8 but asked to see her in 2014 intake auditions and would I like to keep her application with them, did any one else get this email. Good luck to everyone still waiting.
  15. I am so sorry Balletbun but I think you have done the right thing, girls can be very clever when they spot competition amongst class and can lead to such endings where parents have to take control and get them home to a safe environment. I have met your daughter and she is one of the nicest, polities and extremely talented girls I no. Good luck to her and what a loss for the Hammond.
  16. I went to see this last year in Truro Cornwall with my friend and felt guilty we hadn't taken the children so we booked and went again the day after with them. What a brilliant show loved it the second time and captured the audience. Standing ovation at the end. To and see not to be missed.
  17. When I took my daughter to her first ballet lesson I never imagined further down the line it would be all about her body, ie long neck, short torso, arched foot, long legs. My daughter at 11 already understands that the royal ballet like that sort of body and one which she doesn't have. How they can judge at 8 years old what your child will be like at 16 is beyond me and also if there still interested in ballet and not just kept into because they have the correct body shape simply can stop your child finding her own purpose in life. Personally I would rather see an athletic dancer than one who is too thin and wish they would scrap JA programs for under 11 years old children as that's when the comparing begins.
  18. My DD has been offered a place on Elmhurst summer school without being in an associate program so it will be interesting I will let you no how she gets on.
  19. My daughter is going to the summer school and like you got an email back day after posting, does any one no anyone who didn't get in, also how many will there be in each class.
  20. Thank you for all your comments and nice to hear so many of you getting opportunities, learning and confidence building by way of these schemes. For my daughter to attend one of these programs the travel would be at least three hour journey not including the expense involved and like you ballet bun I would need more guarantee at the end of it if it was worth while on the financial side. My daughter is a very confident girl and I have no worries about her finding her feet in life, I think if she is good at sixteen she will gain a place at a school but let's face it all the amount of money in the world if she hasn't the right physique then it's not meant to be.
  21. Just wondering my daughter who is 11 as never been on an associate program and has gone on to gain distinctions in all her ballet exams last one being grade 5 also a few more in her class too have achieved this and I wonder what benefits other than costs would she benefit from if having been on one. I no friends children who also have not been on these programs and gone on to have a successful careers in ballet. Is this not another money spinner and business idea to keep these vocational schools going and keep us parents questioning if our children are ever going to be good enough.
  22. My daughter loves dancing and has been dancing since she was four, started off for social purposes only and over the years seems to be her life. She is good at all genders of dance from ballet to hip hop, maybe not the best but up there with them for her age group. She has decided she wants to be a dancer and I am worried that I will be supporting her for the rest of her career. I just want to no how much do they get paid. For example being In a ballet company, on a cruise ship and also Commericial work. Education as always been the key to success in our house and even my other daughter is worried she will end up not being able to support her self.
