  1. Have a look at the ROH shop and see if anything takes your fancy
  2. Congratulations to her. I have a blunt question.... Has she been offered a good scholarship for Laine? (You don't actually have to answer in a public forum.) I only ask because it seems to me that the favourites who do well there are the ones offered good scholarships/bursaries.
  3. Whilst there is no problem with people giving examples of their own experiences, I should remind members that we must not give medical advice as such. Lemongirl, please seek medical advice, whether that's from a dance physio, or a doctor who specialises in dance injuries. Feel free to ask on the board for recommendations of practitioners. Most children at vocational schools have private health insurance (I know we had to have it) - if you have, please get wheels in motion to see someone.
  4. Welcome to the forum SuziQ and good luck on the results. Hopefully there will be others on here with recent experience (my son's result came on the day off his audition but that was a scary 9 years ago now!!!)
  5. Also, I don't want to sound harsh, but it's a bit early (with an 8 year old) to be worrying about a future ballet career. Keep up the dancing and I hope she continues to enjoy it.
  6. Welcome to the madness CMS. Hope to hear more from you and I wish your daughter lots of luck. Heard this morning about a friend's daughter getting a Senior Associate place, so good luck to anyone waiting to hear about those.
  7. A poignant day for me. Five years ago today Zoë received her offer for RVC (she chose Nottingham in the end) but it's also the day my mum died. She would been so proud of Zoë (as she was of all her grandchildren) and excited to follow her progress. I wonder what she'd've made of her playing rugby - she loved watching her dance!
  8. My son spent 8 years in full-time training (at WL and Elmhurst) and only went to 2 summer schools in that time - and only single weeks. He needed the summer break to rest and recuperate, enjoy some downtime, time with his family, go camping, walking, swimming with some occasional stretching. He became a professional ballet dancer - I don't think doing extra stuff would've improved his career prospects, although I do wish he'd had a chance to do Prague just before his graduate year. But quite honestly, we had no money left for extras!!

I find think you'll get an answer TBG - I just clicked on Sue's name to look at her profile and she hasn't visit this site since 2016!
  10. Getting excited - graduation date announced - 12th July - that's if she passes her finals 😉 Taken me 22 years to breed my own vet 😂😊
  11. Facebook reminded that 9 years ago today my son auditioned for ENBS and we got home to an offer email and a phone call. To say I was excited is an understatement (it was the first upper school audition result we got so were feeling a bit on edge!). Good luck everyone
  12. Hiding them while they're discussed is not the same as removing them. Thanks to Anna for tidying things up! Good luck to everyone waiting for results of auditions and those nervously awaiting auditions yet to come. My son's now nearly 25 and I find myself still missing all this, even with all the stress that came with it! It's a cliché but all you can do is your best.
  13. I'm so happy to hear that Fiz - I wish her lots of luck x

Hello all. We had a lovely day yesterday. No place for Jiffy in a large class but a 3rd for Tartu (in a slightly smaller one). I don't mind saying I really don't like whippets, but that one caught my eye in the BIS ring. We were rooting for the flatcoat of course in the Gundog group - he's Gimble's half brother. Happy he got Group 3 but as he won Reserve BIS 3 years ago it would been amazing to see him win again! PETA are an awful organisation who need to lose their charitable status imho. I hope the winners still managed to enjoy their wins. And don't get me started on Alan Carr - I couldn't bring myself to watch any of his bits after last year, and reading friends comments. I'm all for making it more entertaining to the masses, but really....!
  15. We're not at Elmhurst anymore, so I don't really know how good a job everyone thinks he's doing, but I think they'd miss Bob Parker!!

He loves it when it's icy - loves to smash his way through it. Nothing stops him from getting wet (we have to be careful where we walk then because of that when it's icy).

Thought you might like this.... (Apologies for all the barking - hubby was holding Tartu back as he keeps trying to bite Gimble's shoulders when they play in water) Hope the video upload works VID_20180304_120406.mp4

They're Welsh Springer Spaniels. Unlikely to make it into the TV coverage but look out for the one in the Gundog Group because we'll probably know them and will be rooting for them in the group (it's a very small world - a bit like ballet!!) The flatcoated retriever who won the group and won Reserve Best in Show 3 years ago is a half brother to my flatty in my avatar photo (they have the same handsome dad). It was so exciting watching them in the BIS ring.

Hello everyone - is that time of year again - Crufts starts on Thursday and this year will be there on Sunday (they rotate the groups to be on different days, so this year it's the turn of gundogs to be on the final day - I like being on the final day but the weekends are so busy with general visitors, it's really crowded around the shopping stands!) Is anyone else going? There's some coverage on Channel 4 but don't expect to see much of the actual showing (except for the group judging) - it'll all be other "more exciting" events and strange interviews - but better than nothing 😉 Having done so well last year I'm not expecting much this time but I always enjoy it - there's something about being on that green carpet and having lovely big rings to show in. Here's a photo of Jiffy at a recent show - can't believe he's already nearly 2 and a half and Tartu's nearly 6 - was funny reading back through this thread - I first posted before we'd even got Tartu!
  21. Amos73 All the news reports and missing persons sites I've seen are reporting her as going missing from the Royal Berkshire Hospital. You seem certain that it was the Royal Brompton- someone really needs to get the information out there clarified to help with the search surely?!
  22. Sorry to hear that AN but isn't she great for taking it so well. Good luck to everyone still waiting - I still clearly remember our letter turning up for my son all these years on (yes, it was before they started doing emails!) and the excitement that followed. Been on the end of a "no" letter too with my daughter who was really upset (for about 15 minutes then decided to be a vet!!). We've also been on the other end of the "other" letter after assessments in year 9 (I'm always here for anyone who goes through the same) followed by delight at getting into Elmhurst, so have experienced highs and lows over several years. Thinking of you all, whatever stage you're at.
  23. I've answered in the JA thread, saying that for my son and daughter, JAs always came first. They were lucky to have their sort-after places and training to me at that time was more important than performance. We were lucky that our local festivals usually put groups on Sundays or late on Saturdays and our local dance school were delighted that they were RBS JAs and it was understood how important it was.
