  1. Hi My dd auditioned for the final yr of SAs (SA2) in London (2012-2013)and was fortunate enough to be offered a place! The class was rad intermediate level! But they were certainly looking for a lot of things! Artistry, physique etc My daughter did not go OTT on the makeup! Just mascara! As far as leotards are concerned, she wore a plain black classic cut, thin straps! Once they start the SA course the RBS do not like them to wear leotards that show too much flesh (classic, nothing netty or fussy) The SA course was an amazing time for my DD, she loved every minute and made some really good life long friends! Good luck with auditions!
  2. Hi hfbrew I couldnt agree with you more! Why these schools have to send out so many batches of results is beyond me. These young people are in the very thick of planning their futures and with the added pressure of GCSE's it is a very stressful time for all! Inc. Parents!!!! Naturally those students who already have their offers will post it on FB....happy! But it leaves those who have not yet heard (not a yes or a no) in total limbo and dispair!!! Very inconsiderate on the school's behalf. Perhaps these schools will eventually look at their inadequate 'sending out of results' and change their format? So, even if the result is a positive/negative one.....everyone will know at the same time and know where they stand! There is a lot going for the 'good old fashion' letter by post !!!!!!!
  3. Hi SWE...i personally think the world of Ballet should be entered at an early age (Vocationally age 11) and there has to be a deep passion to pursue this life! I think that as your daughter is unclear of her vocation ie Ballet or Musical Theatre it would be more than wise to stay at school/home, pass some great A Levels (Drama/Dance etc) and re-look at things towards the back end of year13. She may then have a totally different feel for things....Uni perhaps? But then if she feel she still wishes to follow her dreams in Musical Theatre then she could audition. However, i do feel she will have missed the window of opportunity as far as the Ballet is concerned!!!! Remember though, she will still be doing Ballet class at MT School....Good Luck!!!! I am going through this right now with my own Daughter and it is not an easy time! x
  4. Millie3 Yes we found my dd technique, strength, focus, etc has improved so much since training elsewhere! We are much happier thanks! My DD has also been very successful in auditions for Vocational schools....so was obviously a great move for us!
  5. We have had first had experience of NBA and i have to say the quality of the teaching here is poor! At present, the facilities are good...but thats as far as it goes! The pastoral care is inadequate. A lack of duty of care (emotionally when it counts) often with 'brush off' responses to challenging questions. There is only one way of training at NBA and i feel it is substanded compared to the fantastic teaching styles that are taught in Vocational schools in this country and abroad! I would not recommend this CAT scheme. The hours of training are long (for very little results) and the proof is in their end of year show when they clearly think its ok to have 12 year old students 'skipping' and 'galoping' around the stage with very liitle technique and virtually no strong classical vocabularly to show off. I guess a positive comment to all this is that the students do get to dance with the associated company NB....which of course is an amazing experience. The Company is great and students can aspire to their roll models! My recommendation....find a really good 'local' school and i am sure your son or daughter will do just fine there!
