  1. Great news Mae989, your DD must be thrilled! Congratulations x
  2. Congratulations to your children shygirlsmum and dawnb14. My dd also was thrilled to hear last Monday that she had been accepted onto the inter associate programme at Northern ballet. Great news for them all!
  3. Thank you SarahW for the info, that is really useful. I think DD was keen to consider Northern over York as she understood the classes were longer; she currently only does 9.45 to 11.05 am at York, but they are 9am until 1pm at Northern. We've just had an email saying DD has been recalled to the second audition for the Intermediate Associates, which is great news. Am assuming that means she has not been successful on the CAT programme, but not sure. It looks like they are emailing everyone today, so if you are still waiting keep an eye on your email! Good luck everyone
  4. Thank you. If DD is successful at Northern, either with Associates or CAT, we will have to leave York Scholars, which will be a shame as she really enjoys it. However, DD is not hopeful about gaining a place at Northern, after not getting through last year. She will also still have to get through the York Scholars assessment to keep her place, so at the moment she is trying her best for everything, and see what, if anything, she is offered!
  5. Yes, we are waiting to hear if DD is through to the next round on the 29th. She is auditioning for summer school, associates and CAT. I'm not fully clear on how it works, but assume the second audition on the 29th is both the final associate auditions and the next round of CAT auditions. There is then a two day intensive CAT auditions in April, should she get that far in the process. Last year we just auditioned for associates and Summer School (although switched this to Easter course due to a date clash with York Scholars summer school). She got through to the second round of auditions, however after the second audition we received a letter to say she hadn't secured a place on the associate scheme. After that she then auditioned for the York associate scheme (about April time I think), and started last September. She has really enjoyed that.
  6. Congratulations Shygirlsmum to your DD on getting through to the next round of auditions, and all the best for the 29th! Good luck to everyone else who is waiting to hear from the first round.
  7. We also haven't heard from Northern Ballet re first audition, so assume they haven't yet sent letters out. My daughter has previously taken the Easter course at Northern Ballet, but this is the first time she has auditioned for the CAT programme. I too would appreciate comments from anyone with experience of this programme. Thanks Mae989 for asking the question.
  8. Hi emsloves2dance, I looked at the website and noted the dates, but I understand these classes are in addition to her regular ballet classes and the form requires her teachers signature... Is this the case? I could ask her previous teacher in southport to sign it. Also, how tough are the auditions? My daughter has successfully auditioned for EYB a number of times, and is doing the York one this summer, but these seem fairly easy to get into.... What do you think? Thanks, alexa
  9. Thanks JulieW, finding lots of info on the forum!
  10. Thanks Jayne, will let you know when my daughter starts!
  11. Thanks Jayne, will let you know when my daughter starts!
  12. Hi, thank you for your reply, my daughter has looked at their websites and is keen to try their classes. Like you I think she may do both!
  13. Hi, we have just moved to York (south of the city) and are looking for a good ballet and dance school for my daughter (aged 11, grade 4).... Any suggestions / recommendations? Thank you
