  2. Hello to the BalletCo forum! A brief explanation about the absence of the pony: a pony was indeed planned! But the rehearsals didn't go well, he didn't like the stage at all. So it was decided, for animal welfare reasons, not to put him on stage... And there was no replacement available. I wasn't able to see the duo Bleuenn Battistoni/Marcelino Sambé. But all the "balletomanes" whom I know were thrilled by this duo.
  3. Hello SpideyDad Thank you for your comment. We are still looking, I will keep an eye on it!
  4. it was a quality evening. Carlos Acosta introduced the evening with a huge thank you to everyone for turning up and, barring a few upper gallery seats, making the event a sell out. He followed that with an impassioned plea for people to continue to buy tickets and see as many events and shows as possible to keep the Arts alive in Birmingham now and for future generations. Céline Gittens was poetry in motion as the delicate white swan. Yasiel Hodelin showed the promise of technical greatness that is being murmured about in the ballet corridors. Miki Mitzutani and Max Maslen were perfectly precise and shone as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Prince. Yu Kurosawa had definitely shot an arrow through Lachlan Monaghan’s heart, he was beyond smitten. The beautifully executed fouettés brought the house down as a fitting finale. A big shout out to the Royal Ballet Sinfonia conducted by a wonderfully entertaining energetic Paul Murphy for their stand alone pieces particularly the Capriccio Italien.
  5. Hello RobR Thank you for your comment. Her parents contacted school but they could not. Thank you anyway.
  6. Yes, last night's performance brought deep joy and happiness. Incredibly beautiful.
  7. Dante Sonata is a serious anti-war piece and well worth viewing albeit somewhat different in style from what you may expect.
  8. I don’t think there is movement into the company from the school. You have to see them as separate entities really.
  9. Well I'd all in favour of MacMillan 'overload' if that's what it takes. (And no-one seems to worry about the current threat of McGregor overload.) I understand Lady MacMillan's sentiment, but in fact MacMillan was known to be a genius by very many people during his lifetime. And his death was announced as a leading news item on national radio, even though he was no longer director of the RB. So although sometimes deemed to be controversial, he was certainly not unappreciated.

  14. This will be my dd third summer and second Easter. She made some wonderful friends the first year and they have kept in touch and look forward to meeting up and various YBS events. The team are brilliant and make sure everyone is well looked after x
  15. Today
  16. I was delighted to see that too. I’m hoping for Romany bring cast as the side-story love couples in The Dream.
  17. Well in summary. I did not like the music I disliked the story. I found the choreography indifferent and the dancers I saw did not impress me. Sorry
  18. Instagram Facebook Another sublime Kaneko/Bracewell show 🤍🖤
  19. Thanks for this! We’ve been spiralling a bit because it completely clashes with current dance school but this is an excellent perspective
