Yes she is lovely Anna. I guess the change of code has been significant. More of them are compact now with hugely powerful quads and glutes. I do like Jordache who retains a degree of grace but she was injured for Europeans.

Thanks for reminding me of that beautiful gymnast.

 

I agree that the shape of gymnasts seem to have changed somewhat in recent years but Svetlana seems to prove that you don't really need all that bulky muscle to be very strong.

 

I'd rather see less rotations but do with more speed as a challenge.

 

Olga Korbet is probably a one off in her rather impish and delightful style of performance. I was lucky enough to see her at Earls Court not long after she had won her Olympic medals.

I love Sletvana Khorkinas floor, I love her style of tumbling too the beautiful whip into a triple twist, it looks so pretty and effortless. I wonder if the change in style we see in gymnastics today is down to a stronger USA influence in the sport now. I wonder how much more difficult can some of their skills get, there must be a limit on what is humanly possible!
