Ian Macmillan
Alison: We might all agree that that is so, but this is presumably another sign of the times. Remember that we haven't used TheTimes or Sunday Times at all since they moved behind a paywall a year or so back, and there is only partial unpaid access on a slowly increasing number of publications - Washington Post, The Australian, Boston Globe, for example - besides the NY Times. The NYT conditions still include a proviso that links through search engines, Facebook, Twitter and the like will remain free, but my experience with trying such routes has met with mixed success, I'm afraid - and I've just found that I can get into today's Brian Seibert review, via John's link, when I was immediately shut out from it earlier this morning! John and I will soldier on as best we can!

John Mallinson
Interestingly (or maybe not!) the review of the San Francisco triple bill mentions that the Raymonda sets and costumes are from the Royal Ballet - getting an airing before the RB uses them at the end of the year. Their last RB outing was 1998.
