BankruptMum
Is there a standard time across the schools with regards to the length of a solo when it is required in auditionsSome I have read say 1 minute, others dont mention it - does anyone remember from past experience? Many thanks,
HAIRBELLES
Hi Bankruptmum The only advice I can impart is to gather all the times that the different colleges state on the application then tailor the dance to the shortest time. I seem to remember some will say do not exceed say a minute and a half . A tall order when you are trying to show a panel what you can do in such a short space of time. Good luck pm me if you want any specifics as you know where dd auditioned last year .

swanprincess
If i was to do a ballet solo for a 6th form audition, would they expect it to be en pointe? Thanks x
Lildancer96
Tring was a 60 second solo. Swanprincess - dd said to tell you she did do it en pointe but lots did contemporary pieces in bare feet x
Lildancer96
I think being able to sing/play an instrument is an added bonus too and they are also given the opportunity to do this - my dd can't do either :
Guesty
My dd didn't do her ballet solo en pointe for audition but we know a lot who did, her teacher set it with moves she cannot achieve en pointe yet! Whatever you decide practice and be confident and show them your technique and what you are capable off. Good luck!
