Pas de Quatre
In today's Sunday Times magazine there is an article about British groundbreaking female MPs. However, the short bio of Betty Boothroyd says, "After a stint as a semi-professional dancer, or Tiller Girl, she began working as a secretary in parliament." It then goes on to say she was popular as the first female Speaker of the Commons. Surely the Tiller Girls were a highly professional troupe and she would have learnt many transferable skills during her training and performing. Dance still has a long way to go to be appreciated!
Lisa O`Brien
I thought you had posted this because she had died. I always liked her as Speaker.
