I'm putting this comment here as may not need a new thread as such

ive been looking on the Bolshoi website and see that on December 9th and 10th the ballet Nureyev will be premiered

This may be "old" news that I've missed somehow but I thought this ballet had been abandoned ( originally banned) for the time being so has it suddenly been reinstated as it were? I see only two performances are in the offing in December but maybe more later on?

Does anyone know any more about this ballet?

They are definitely performing Nureyev - DS is cast in the corps and they are rehearsing non stop.

As always, thanks so much for this, Anna.  I saw Ivan the Terrible when the Bolshoi came to NYC in about 1975, I think it was.  I was so impressed with it (as with Spartacus, which was our first viewing of it during that same visit), and have never seen it since.  I would love to one day, and see how either it (or I!) has stood the test of time!

Wow, what a packed and fascinating newsletter, Anna.  I will miss the Bolshoi Ballet in London this summer, and already look forward to their trip here in 2019!

With many thanks for posting these newsletters up so regularly, it's much appreciated.

Me too Sim I love the "August" Russians at the ROH so it will be a bit bleakish this year.

Lets hope though that it at least gives the opportunity for the alterations at the ROH to get on a bit! It would be so nice to start off the Autumn season with a fully functioning opera house.
