Pleased about these. My only slight disappointment Is that Joseph Sissens didn't get promoted. After his excellent performance In Symphonic Variations I hoped he would, but hopefully another season will give him more opportunities.

Am I missing something here?  Is there something special about her being a Londoner?

As far as I am concerned, it is far more interesting that we now have two new female principals who have come right the way through the RB school from White Lodge, to join the two existing ones.

I think the point is that this is the London Evening Standard reporting, so they're going to take a London angle.

Yes. Plus, it's a London based company. I don't think it's a big deal that they're taking this angle.

Strange that there is no mention of him (de Primo) as leaving as previous Prix dancers usually get a mention if they are given a contract or if they move on to other companies etc.

Do they? I don't believe Julian MacKay got a mention when he left, he just kind of disappeared and it was later reported on here where he was heading but the RB didn't say anything.

Shame about Di Primo, I was hoping we would see more of him. I had wondered from the start whether his height might be a problem, but in the end it seems there were not many male contracts available this year anyway. I do hope he is successful in getting a contract elsewhere.

Yes, I was hoping that too - I guess the lack of contracts is most likely the reason as David Yudes's height did not prevent him getting a permanent contract with the RB.

Yudes is taller!

Oh dear.  He hadn't featured that much in last year's rep, had he?  Not sure whether he was injured?

Indeed, he'll be missed.

Very sad; I remember his Tybalt which was excellent.  No mention of where he's going next?

No....he said on Facebook that he will be pursuing other interests and commitments and will keep us informed.  I wish him well.

Who can possibly replace him as The Caterpillar in the upcoming run of Alice?!  😢😢

He seems so nice! Anna C has long told me so but he comes across so naturally and warm in this article. Thank you for sharing it, Angela.

He sounds lovely.  I think he was just in the wrong company at the wrong time and Ai think he almost says this when he talks about people having their positions.  For me, his appointment seemed an unusual one given RB’s repertory and I think it was a rare mis-step from KOH.

I am am more concerned to read that the wonderful Johann is doing a new DQ.  Does the world really need yet another version of this, for me, uninspired work.

At the time he, Matthew Golding, was hired, the RB needed a tall, male Principal but, then, unexpectedly perhaps, along came Vadim Muntagirov ;)

...they were looking in particular for “the one” for Osipova. High hopes which were dashed by her injuries...first Sleeping Beauty...then the fall in DQ. However I actually liked them together in Dream (I’m in a tiny minority here!) and he really did raise his game with her in Onegin.

Yes, it was just bad timing really, I suppose.  But how nice that he appears sanguine and very much involved in his future career.

As a side note but leading on from capybara’s comment, how tall are Matthew Golding and Vadim Muntagirov? Are they substantially taller than other RB male principals?

And now that Zenaida Yanowsky has retired, what range of heights is there amongst the female RB principal dancers?
