  1. Good afternoon, my DD is recording a variation from Paquita and we are looking to buy a pair of white arm puffs and a white professional tutu skirt , size S. We could also be interested in buying a second hand Paquita costume. Or to know where to find one which wouldn't be too expensive. Any suggestion is very welcome. Thank you and have a good Sunday
  2. Oh thank you so much JoJo! This is very encouraging. I just imagined that russian was extremely tough, given also the different language characters. Also very good to know about online study packages as I thought there couldn't be anything after GCSEs. We will research into this as well. Thanks!!!
  3. Thank you CeliB. That is a very interesting point. I will research into it. What I find complicated is to explain to the ballet schools the academic level my DD is at the moment (Y10) and find some reasonable alternatives. Ideally it would be great to have a placement in a country where some english teaching is available, She also speaks french fluently, so she is open to this challenge as well. Different situation is to continue her studies in russian or german. Althoug she could try to be taught in russian or german for ballet classes, it would be totally impossible for her to continue her academic studies in those languages. Thank you again.
  4. Thank you very much Afab, 2dancersmum and Lucinda. Have a good day everyone and thank you again for your help.
  5. Yes Tulip, but there's a whole thread about auditions for upper schools in the UK, so I found pointless to ask about it. I already have the information there.
  6. Apart the major ones like Cuba, NYCB, ABT, San Francisco, Milan, Paris and more, there are other minor ones which are good anyway. The only problem is that I don't know them and I don't know how to find them. Hence the hypothesis of a website or a magazine where the addresses and names are listed. But maybe it doesn't exist.
  7. Afab I don't have any special school or country in mind. I am just trying to find auditions in ballet schools abroad (not in UK), to increase the chances for my DD to enter a good ballet school. They can be everywhere, really. Someone told me that there was a website or a publication where they were listed but I don't remember. Thank you JoJo and Kat09!
  8. Hello, I would kindly need your help again, if it's possible. Does anyone know where and when any information will be published on auditions dates to enter major ballet schools abroad? I am talking about Y12 and Y13 (instead of A levels qualifications). Thank you very much for any input. We are truly lost on this subject.
  9. Hello, is there any of you who is interested in selling a size 13/14 years old tutu dress which would be suitable to perform Paquita Variation? I would love to buy it. Otherwise, have you got an idea where I can find one? All online dancewear shops need 4/5 weeks and I need it by the beginning of march the 20th. Thank you very much for any help.
  10. BalletBloch thank you very very much. This information is extremely helpful. Thanks again.
  11. Thank you all so much! It's my first experience with a forum and I am very touched by your kind advices. Thank you Tulte. I'll do it straight away as soon as I have finished replying to this thread. I had never heard of it, but I have never heard of many other schools someone else mentioned. Thank you Tomuchtallent. I will do the same with the school you mentioned. Meadowblythe: I totally agree with you. In fact that's why I haven't decided to move her to YDA last july (when I found out about the school). Her GCSE's subjects are very different from the ones offered by YDA. On top we should have paid a penalty to our present academic school for withdrawing her with such short notice. She has already changed many schools. Every time it's a huge effort for her (and us). On top she's very shy and all this doesn't contribute to make her feel relaxed. And finally Spannerandpony. Thank you for your recap and information about WLSD. I also appreciated that you supported our idea to have extra private lessons together with her normal ballet schools classes. I will definitely look into all these schools and discuss it with DD (that's the tough part as, although shy, she's very opinionated when it comes to discussing ballet with ME!). Posting on this forum has been a very pleasant and informative experience. Thank you very much again. Now I know where to turn whenever I have a doubt (which happens quite often, so watch out for my threads!!). Have a good afternoon and take care. lallamum
  12. Thanks everyone for your kind replies. We tried London Russian Ballet School but it's very far. She was accepted but, as we live close to Hammersmith, it took us more than 1 hour to get there and another 1.5 hour to come back. I had to drive her up and down as no public transport could cover the distance in such a short time. As far as it concerns YDA, well we found out about it only last july; hence it was too late both to join it and to cancel her local academic school. I was thinking of some private lessons which can fill the gaps of her ballet classes. She loves her ballet school and she would be sorry to leave it for good. Also do you think it's important to have one to one classes or not? Thanks again.
  13. We will definitely stay in London. No more moves for another 3 years. We have been based in London for the past 5 years.
