Hello, My dance teacher has given me have a new jazz solo and has let me choose the song. I have spent lots of time on Spotify looking at jazz solo songs, but still uncertain on what song to choose. I am 15 years old so I want a ‘mature’ song but I’m open to suggestions. Im wondering what make a song good to dance to? I personally think having highs and low parts in the music is important, but anything else? If you could give song suggestions that would be greatly appreciated:) Thankyou xx

Thankyou, LinMM My teacher decided the music and did the choreography. I feel as though if I was to have done the choreography myself It would be easier to tell the story.

Hi! hopefully this time I have posted to the right place I have onky been dancing for a short time and am having trouble counting music when I dance. I struggle to grasp the contrast of using counts when dancing. Example would be when the dance teacher uses only counts to run through the dance. When I practice I listen to lyrics or key parts in the music and have not been thinking about counting the music. I really want to be able to count music and dance to it before next year when the dance classes start again. Thankyou

Thank you Richard LH, so do you think with music that is on the happy side, it’s appropriate to portray a sad, dark face that slowly turns happy?

Hi This is my first time here so I don’t know if i posted it to the right place. I have a solo to the song called blackbird by Sarah McLachlan and it is a very simple but nice dance that I have perfected it technically and want to add an emotional element to the dance. I can’t find a story or meaning and I am struggling to put in motion and at the moment I am just doing a slight smile. Do you give any suggestions for Story I can base it to. Thankyou so much link to song: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=g3VrggQW7tk
