  1. Yes I looked around and private rental is definitely cheaper as paulc stated. Unfortunately my daughter is not yet 18 so private rental not possible until next year 😢
  2. Thanks dancers dad. I've decided on Dwell as it'll be a saving of over 2 grand! 44 week contract rather than new medlock 51 weeks. 11 weeks of paying for nothing. Should be illegal!
  3. As per the title, I'm looking at accommodation for next year (second year). Currently in the very expensive New Medlock which has been overall fine with some horrific punctuations of shoddy workmanship, muck, chaos and disorganisation/ lack of communication etc. However, we cannot afford it for next year and wondering what everyone else is doing? Has anyone found a gem they're willing to share information? Thanks. P.S. DD is LOVING being at NBS and has found her spiritual home!
  4. We're also assuming the worst. We have been since 2pm on Saturday, having heard of so many other calls.
  5. Does anyone know why central made phone calls? The hoards of us in the dark with no phone call are all feeling a bit crap!
  6. About a million by my calculations! Looking at the blurb they've sent, if they have 10 kids in each group (conservative estimate) there'll be at least 120 kids. How many of them will be girls, no idea!
  7. Panicking a bit here... I've booked my daughter into new medlock but she still has 2 recall auditions to attend who probably won't announce places until end of March or maybe even April. NM have only a 7 day cooling off period before you're basically liable for the whole year unless they fill your place. Dd is DESPERATE to attend and says Manchester is where she should be but we won't even be able to send her unless she gets DaDA funding. Aaarghhh!
  8. Straight no for my dd too. First time applying and I also didn't tell her! Funny how the deadline was extended...£
  9. Thanks all. She's very happy you've agreed with her!
  10. How much ballet is too much? Dd (now suitably equipped with demis!) is just about to embark on what I think is a mental amount of ballet for a just turned 13 year old: regular class 45 minutes on Monday, 1hr 45 minutes on a Tuesday (45 mins one class, 1hr RAD int), 1.5hr RAD int on Wednesday and again on Friday, then associate programme on a Saturday (3hrs) and once a month for 5 hrs on a Sunday. On top of school. I'm worried... she seems to think it's all going to be grand!
  11. Ah that does indeed make sense. Thank you - I feel a bit less annoyed about it now!
  12. Bah! Why though? What's the actual point of demi pointe?
  13. Thank you. It's a bit annoying that soft blocks are pointless (Haha) and won't be worn after the exam. Grrr. Oh well. Off to melt my credit card again...
  14. Hello. Total newbie here (had major issues getting past the Captcha thing to register). Can I ask if they HAVE to wear soft blocks for RAD Intermediate? Seems mental- why wouldn't they just do the whole thing in pointe shoes? I'm asking because my daughter is going to go all out to try and get inter this year having only reached grade 4 Cecchetti.
