  1. DS has now attended 3 of tutugirl's summer schools and each time he has thoroughly enjoyed it. The faculty are fantastic, he is inspired by the male teachers, one of which is currently dancing with a company, and learns so much in just 1 week. The summer school is attended by a good mix of vocational and non-vocational students and they are grouped by ability rather than age meaning all students are challenged. The performance at the end of the week allows every student multiple performance opportunities and the standard and volume of work learnt in such a short time is superb. It is a very caring and nurturing environment, offers excellent value for money and the homestay provision is brilliant. I would not hesitate to recommend it.
  2. Congrats to your daughter. Train from London is easy. King's Cross to York then York to Harrogate. There is also a direct train between Harrogate and King's Cross but that doesn't run very frequently
  3. DS has accepted his place at Central today. Exciting times 😁
  4. We have declined DS's offer today so hopefully that will open up a reserve place now x
  5. When I got the phonecall they mentioned they had a very long waiting list this year. I've only heard of yes or nos
  6. Does anyone know of any other boy places? I'm fairly certain DS will be accepting his.
  7. Good to hear Friendship House is recommended. Are the shared rooms ok? Are they big enough for 2 people to live in comfortably. Certainly seems the most affordable option. I've submitted an enquiry to LHA for Sept entry and DS is happy to share. Do any Central students do homestay? DS turns 17 beginning of October. Thanks
  8. We've just had a phonecall too with a yes for DS. Good luck to everyone else waiting 🤞
  9. DS said they said they were hoping to release results on 22nd but if not it would be 24th. I was also hoping they'd be out sooner x
  10. Another recommendation for this excellent summer school. DS, currently in vocational training, has attended twice with homestay and has had a brilliant time. Small class sizes, lots of personal attention and correction, and an amazing performance at the end for the parents. Homestay is great and the children are very well looked after. Best value for money intensive out there 🙂
  11. Yes we have. Hope others got good news too 🙂
  12. We've had an email this morning saying results will be out on (or by) 18th with an apology for the delay
  13. I think I'm more impatient than dc. We're also waiting for Central results too 😬
  14. They said they would be hoping to have decisions with admissions by Friday but it would take Admissions 1-2 weeks to update UCAS with offers.
  15. Thanks everyone, very reassuring 😊
  16. Thanks, he started his growth spurt toward the end of primary school and has grown 8 inches in the last 2 years (4 inches a year) so I'm hoping he's an early starter. His dad remembers being the tallest at primary school then was overtaken by most of his peers during secondary. Reassuring to know that men in ballet are getting taller though because ballet is his end goal, although we have plan b and c too!
  17. Does anyone know what height would be considered too tall for a male in classical ballet. DS is 14 in October and is already just shy of 5'10". My husband is 5'9 and I am 5'4 so I'm hoping he'll stop growing soon but is it possible to be too tall? Thanks
  18. DS had a place on YBS summer school this year. He's done a few masterclasses with them and we'd hoped there would be something separate to the RBS offering. Thankfully he's now doing Central's online summer school and a set of weekly classes with Sander Blommaert so all is not lost!
  19. DS is doing virtual schooling with Hammond. Our living room is out of bounds for the rest of us during the day so we have a choice of garden, kitchen or bedroom. We've removed the dining table to make room for a small barre area and put a very lightweight desk in for academics which can be easily moved for dance lessons.
  20. DS puts the laptop on the floor at the far end of the living room. The angle of the screen/camera means we can get all of him in view.
  21. DS has a place and I had an email this afternoon saying that, at that time, it would still be going ahead but they would let us know if that changed.
  22. DS has a place for week 1. Non residential as we live locally 😊
