  1. All the Cinderella’s Friends were lovely girls and now I know who your DD is:) DD has also remained friends with many past cast members too. Lots of great friendships and lovely memories. Who knows what will happen at casting, there were plenty of fantastic dancers at the audition, so we’ll have to wait and see. Just excited and happy to be part of the upcoming production. Thank you.
  2. Thank you Pointetoes, my DD is 14 and also did Cinderella last November. What a fantastic production that was, we absolutely loved it. DD was a Lead Guest (one of four, in the pink dress). I’m sure she will know your DD! Want to make the most of the EYB experience before she’s 18. It must have been an emotional last show for you and your DD.
  3. Thank you Pointetoes, so helpful. Very excited for DD casting day. Will be her 5th EYB production and has had some great roles/leads in the past. Fingers crossed for another great role. She loves the whole EYB experience anyway and was fortunate enough to be awarded the full scholarship this time after being short listed the last 3 times. It’s nice to have an idea on casting day what roles are available so thank you very much for your help:)

  5. Thank you Pointetoes. That’s very helpful. What part did your DD prefer? She sounds like a very talented young lady.
  6. Hello, would love to hear from anyone who has been involved with an EYB Coppelia production. Can see from previous posts that Swanhilda’s Friends are in 3 acts but can anyone tell me what the role entails for the Coppelia doll? Many thanks.
  7. Thank you poodle. Wish I had hung around for a sneaky peek myself. DD is so excited and will be dancing with a friend she made from Swan Lake last year. Such a wonderful experience for all involved. Hope your DD enjoyed the casting too.
  8. Hello, my dd has been cast as one of Aurora's Friends, which sounds fantastic . Could anyone kindly give an insight into music, costume etc. Have seen one of the rehearsal dances on FB and wondered what their second dance is. Any information gratefully received. Many thanks.
  9. Hello Sarah2203, congratulations to your DD on her role as a Tsar's Courtier. The girls wear a long dress and jacket (jacket removed for Act II to reveal pretty white blouse with the long dress). Dresses and jackets are either green, blue, terracotta, or red. When they are all dancing together it looks striking. They have quite a long time on stage too. Take a look at the English Youth Ballets Facebook page and you will find the Swan Lake videos. My DD was a Little Mariinsky (knee length white tutu with sash and choker). It was the most amazing experience for the whole family. My DD made some wonderful friends and enjoyed the whole experience so much. My husband and I watched every show (I cried every time too, ha,ha). My DD cried too when it all came to an end. So excited though as she auditioned for Sleeping Beauty (was even shortlisted for a scholarship, unfortunately didn't get it but incredible achievement anyway). Castings take place in June and cannot wait to see what she gets. The Swan Lake production is stunning and anyone involved will not be disappointed. Good Luck
  10. Thank you for the warm welcome Janet McNulty, such a great forum. Thank you also Pups_mum, dd cannot wait for rehearsals to start. I am so excited to see the production, it looks wonderful.
  11. Thank you Bluebird22, very helpful. I have seen the long white tutus with sash and choker on EYB YouTube clips and was hoping that these were the Little Mariinskys. That's wonderful.
  12. Thank you so much hoglett. We are very excited. I don't think I have read one bad review about EYB. I'm sure my dd will learn a lot and thoroughly enjoy her experience.
  13. Hello, I am a new member and this is my first post. Hope it is ok to tag along to this post (still finding my feet on the site). My dd has been cast as a Little Mariinsky and will be en pointe. Would love to hear from anyone who can enlighten me on this role, and also what the costume is like. I have watched the EYB Swan Lake clips on YouTube but cannot work out who the Little Mariinskys are. Many thanks.
