  1. Yep, for this Sept 2024, I have to provide my P60 from April this year which is 23-24.
  2. I can second that advice. We have just beend told this in writing 😊
  3. We got a response to our email turning the AA place down. It says someone on the waitlist will get an email today. My DD is not allowed to do associates without prior permission and I think the request would be declined. It doesn’t work logistically anyway and from the timetable I have seen for 6th form, I personally don’t think it would be needed.
  4. My DD has turned her AA place down for various reasons, so hopefully you see some movement. It will depend on if the vocational 6th form allows them to do AA on the side. The email stated you had to have permission from current school. There maybe some movement because of that.
  5. The people that do the interviews are really lovely, no one is out to ‘catch anyone out’ or trick them. A little nerves won’t bother any of them. They know they are still young. I think my DDs interview for yr10 was with a house parent. Wait time is about 2 weeks, they should give you a rough time in the parent Q&A section. I would try not to worry about numbers, you can drive yourself crazy. The fact she has made finals is a huge achievement x
  6. In the initial email for yr10 finals (where they just tell you dates, but no finer details) it said ‘there will be a 1st round and if selected, a call back day’ I’m guessing it would be very obvious from the semi final results email they have sent out. I would hazard a guess and say Upper school finalists are at both days - especially as there will be so many of them to look at.
  7. I think the cutting part only happens at the older years. When my DD auditioned for yr10, we had to wait til 5.15pm on day 1 to find out if she was through to day 2. It would be really clear in their correspondence, if this was the case.
  8. Me again! Can anyone give insight as to how long ENB take to send out results from prelims? They were on today, but DD didn’t ask. Basically so I know when to start stalking my emails 😂
  9. I would contact the school. You don’t ask you don’t get. The very worst they can say is no. Something I’ve learnt from others along this journey is to speak up, you just never know.
  10. i would 2nd English Youth Ballet. My DD did it twice when she was younger. It is a very good set up, she learnt alot, made good friends, and it was such a good opportunity.
  11. We got them through devoted to dance on instagram/Facebook. We get most uniform stuff through them. Just send a private message and they are pretty quick to respond. I advised what she was currently in, size width shank etc. They sent us a pair to try and my DD was happy straight away. We would have simply returned if she didn’t like them. They have sent us other brands previously that just didn’t work for my DD.
  12. If anyone is looking for a new brand of pointe shoe to try, my DD can highly recommend Virtisse. She’s at vocational school, doing a fair number of hours on pointe. She got them in Sept and they are still going!! She used to have to have 2 pairs of Grishko to rotate and they would still die by every half term. I don’t know what Virtisse are made of but it’s helped my bank balance! My DD tried them on at home, she knows what she needs, and has learnt alot over 6 years of fittings! Obviously if your DC is new to pointe an in person or online fitting would be best 😊
  13. My DD is about to sit her Dance GCSE. For Theory they have an anthology of performances that they have to know everything about. From choice of choreo to lighting, costuming and phrasing, it’s quite detailed. I think only a couple come up in the exam, a bit lile poetry in English. Then there is the practical which for mine is a duet, choreo to a title/phrase (showing your interpretation, choosing your own music), she is also doing a duet. This may vary per exam board or school. At least this is my understanding from what I am told!
  14. Those that were on Monday were told they would find out by 9th February
  15. Agree with @Ruby Foo. Having been on this forum for quite some time, there are a number of DCs who get one but not the other. Definitely still got a chance! Good luck x
  16. My DD is at Elmhurst and was not a Young Dancer or at any associate programme. She wasn’t successful at yr7, but was later on. There is still time!
  17. It is so hard when the answer is not one that they want. Remember it is not a reflection of their hardwork. We never know what these places want, and there is no explanation. I think it is amazing how these DCs have the confidence to go into these auditions. That is an experience in itself! She should be very very proud of herself. From my own experience, my DD was unsuccessful for yr7 auditions and associate auditions. She regrouped, continued working hard and reauditioned and was successful yr10 entry. She received 2 offers (from the ones that said no years earlier) It definitely made her stronger and more determined.
  18. My DD only did ISTd exams until she was 10. It gave her confidence for exams in general. She moved to a 10hr programme that didn’t do exams. She was successful at a lower school audition for yr10 entry. It didn’t hinder her chances. However she is now playing RAD catch up, because her yr is now on Advanced, which you can’t move onto with having the intermediate. It’s not a major problem as they are pushing her through, but I guess it would be easier if she had RAD under her belt.
  19. Hi, just a quick question regarding the course at ENB. From the timetable there is no time to do distance learning for A levels. My DD is looking at plan B, post career options - possibly physio/sprts injury etc, which would need probably need biology. I saw on the website the diploma course includes Anatomy - can anyone give me an idea of what this entails?
  20. Hiya, My DD is at Elmhurst. Every term an activities list is sent out. Some are in house and paid for by house funds that you contribute too. Others are offsite with an extra fee. Example crazy golf, the wave etc. If you are in yr7-9 and are onsite that weekend the activities are compulsory. They do yr group trips to Aldi, and the park - with house parents You should get a tour by the house parents at finals and you can ask them all sorts of questions If you take them off site during the week, you need permission and they need to be back by 8pm. Leave out is around every 3 weeks, finish at 2.20. We live in Kent and every leave out or half term my DD gets a train to Euston then a train home from st pancras. She is obviously alot older! When they are younger they will try to put them with children going in the same direction. Xmas/Easter is 3 weeks and you need to collect all her stuff and bring it home. Lovely 6hr round trip! Yr7 don’t usually start Saturday RAD classes til after xmas. Allowing them to settle in a bit. Hope this helps! and Good Luck!
  21. Tring gave us a parents meeting whilst the DCs were getting ready for audition. It was really informative. Whilst the DCs are waiting to audition they had some existing 6th formers on hand for them to ask any questions or just to put them at ease. We also had a mini tour whilst we waited. Interview was relatively easy, they just asked them some general questions, nothing too taxing. They are not trying to catch them out. Good luck!
  22. Tring are definitely not bothered by what genre the solo is. I think they just want to see them move outside of a class. It would also stand out against all the ballet solos I imagine they see! Central - no solo - first date for audition was Friday last week. No one has mentioned a solo to me. ENBS - No solo, if they follow same as last year. Also no mention in audition pack.
  23. We got it in a few weeks ago. I just wanted to know when we would hear back from them, I’m not very patient 😂 They do videos, if successful then prelims in February and then finals are in March.
  24. Does anyone know when ENB will be in contact after the deadline on Monday? Is it likely to be before Xmas? Thanks â˜ș
