  1. Capezio practice tutus run small. I had to buy a size L for my adult size 6/8 daughter. I have a size L one for sale if it’s any good to you. Can pm you photos if necessary.
  2. If your son is on Instagram there are lots of audition accounts that will advertise auditions that companies have posted. They tend to have the same auditions popping up on each. @audition_company_2023 (the year date seems to change each year) @danceauditionss @auditionsballet @openauditions @industryauditions My dd also started to follow lots of companies that she was interested in to see if any were advertising for dancers.
  3. There is also the option to do an Access to Higher Education course at a local college after the Level 6 Diploma. These can take one/two years to complete and a lot of them are related to health professional careers which is good because those degrees tend to be eligible for student finance as a ‘second degree’. It’s worth bearing in mind that Level 6 diplomas that have been funded by DaDAs can be viewed as a ‘degree’ even though they aren’t an actual degree and even though you haven’t used student finance to pay for it. It’s worth checking with Student Finance where you live on this as it seems to vary throughout the U.K. .
  4. My dd is with Aviva and I would definitely recommend getting private health care. We have needed it! Injuries led to physio, MRI, injections and also private GP appointments- all that we would’ve had to wait a long time for on the NHS.
  5. I just ordered online and there is a code on the website for 20% off at the moment. I’m not sure how long this will be on for but I didn’t ask for any student/pro discount. Their communication was great as they emailed me to say that the order was at my dd’s local post office as I had left a digit off her phone number and they were unable to contact her after a missed delivery as she was back home for Easter.
  6. Just a little update on the Sansha pointe shoes - all delivered and order was correct. Delivered in less than a week even though I selected ‘more than 30 days’ delivery which was free! I managed to get 20% discount and had no customs charges 😃😃
  7. My dd was fitted with Sansha pointe shoes recently at That’s Entertainment and loves them. I think FR Duval could possibly be made by Sansha. I have tried numerous shops to try to buy them and can’t find any. One lady advised me to buy straight from the Sansha website in the USA as she didn’t think there were any in the U.K. I have ordered three pairs from them about a week ago so patiently waiting for them to be delivered and I imagine we will be faced with custom charges too. https://world.sansha.com/f-r-duval.html
  8. My dd has recently been fitted for Sansha Pro DV flex pointe shoes and the shop where she usually gets her shoes from is closing down. Does anyone know of any other U.K. stockists of these shoes please? Many thanks in advance.
  9. Ahh, that’s good to know… we were told the opposite so like you say, it sounds like it might depend on location! 😬 Damn… that’s my safety blanket ruined! 😂 The gov.uk website explains it better and there are other degrees that you can get finance for if you’re in England - not just health professional degrees. https://www.gov.uk/student-finance/who-qualifies
  10. I would urge caution with the assumption that because you haven’t used student finance for a diploma that you’ll be entitled to it for a degree. We have been told by our local authority that student loans are based on the level of qualification that you already hold and that having a Level 6 qualification could prevent you getting finance for a second Level 6 qualification. A Trinity Diploma is a Level 6 qualification (even though it isn’t a full degree) and that is the same level as a Batchelor’s Degree. There does seem to be some flexibility with second degrees for Allied Health Professional courses however. It may differ depending on where in the U.K. you are accessing your funding but that is what I was told when I spoke to Student Finance in my area.
