  1. RB Anastasia is on at 1pm on Sunday 12 May. It’s repeated later in the week, too. It’s listed as “New”.
  2. I’m more and more impressed by Téo every time I see him perform; such a beautiful dancer. As for Leo – I completely agree and have been keenly following his progress for a long while now.
  3. He was in the Hamilton/Andrijashenko cast I saw, but I don’t know which of the casts yet to come he will be in.
  4. Those sketches are probably first stage, general idea/concept, not the actual finished designs. Within the Golden Hour is one of my favourite ballets but I’ve never liked the costumes, so I look forward to seeing Conran’s creations on Wednesday.
  5. I loved watching Teo Dubreuil as Benvolio. I thought his performance very impressive; wonderfully centred and clean with a good dose of personality and great acting skills. I’d be thrilled to see him as Romeo one day.
  6. At a recent performance of Romeo and Juliet I was standing next to someone with the loudest and most irritating watch I’ve ever heard. It didn’t help that they kept resting their head in their hands so the watch was basically tick-tocking in my ear the whole time. I have the hearing of a bat, though, so I put it down to that. On the other side of me was a girl who kept fiddling with her phone throughout. I don’t know if she was surreptitiously trying to take photos or film as she had it well hidden until all of a sudden it flashed! Then she got it out to check messages. I let it go the first time but the second time she got it out I reached for the phone and would have happily “confiscated” it if my reaction hadn’t made her quickly put it away. Other audible audience disruption doesn’t worry me so much but then I find it fairly easy to ignore; I know others don’t. There was a small child chattering away during another recent performance. I’d zoned the sound out until another audience member sitting many seats away from the child decided to shush them very loudly at a critical point in the ballet. I’m sure most of the auditorium heard it. It was that abrupt and loud reaction, rather than the ongoing sound of the child, that brought me right out of my reverie and completely ruined the moment. Do other audience members get annoyed by other audience members getting annoyed at other audience members? Or is it just me? 😤🤫😆
  7. I have the above spare ticket for tonight’s performance of Romeo & Juliet (7.30pm). It’s a paper ticket but I will be there to hand it over. Please pm if interested.
  8. Nutcracker. 😂 Unless it’s ‘rested’ for 2019/20, like it was a few years ago.
  9. There were a number of cast changes. Jonathan Howells was Sancho Panza, Bennet Gartside was Lorenzo and Thomas Whitehead was Gamache. Romany Pajdak stood in for Itziar Mendizabal as one of the gypsy couple and Nicol Edmonds stood in for Reece Clarke in the fandango.
  10. Some more tickets were released for this at the ROH. The full evening programme on 17 May has sold out again but there are some tickets still available for Playground on 14 May and Communion on 15 May.
  11. Very helpful, thanks! I don’t suppose anyone knows who is in the role of Paris this evening?
  12. Cor, what a drama! We need to follow this case through to its verdict. I have to say that I’ve done similar in the past (picking up a coat, that is, not throwing a punch or three), although in this case it was definitely my seat (I had been sat in it before the interval) and I “assertively proffered” rather than slung the coat back to its owner as soon as I realised they were oblivious to my return. I had already suffered said coat encroaching further and further onto my lap during the performance because its owner had no sense of its size, my personal space nor the cloakroom facilities available, yet clearly didn’t want it touching the floor. Then again, I suppose it could have been some kind of precious, magical coat made out of mistletoe...
  13. Just seen on Instagram (no mention on website) that the ROH has been shortlisted for a RIBA London award following the Open Up work. I’m not sure which other buildings are shortlisted but noticed that the South Bank Centre (presumably for the work done to QE Hall/Hayward Gallery and whathaveyou) is one. https://www.instagram.com/royaloperahouse/p/BvMoxZcBFXl/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=rq75b1pht6c
  14. Sounds like the whole run is going to end up sold as standby. Shame they don’t do a Friends standby – I might be tempted to go for a fiver/tenner.
  15. Would that be considered a cut price student standby offer? Are those tickets usually £10? ”Dynamic pricing” 🤣
  16. ‘What’s On’ via my phone has reverted to the new version again. 😩 It was too good to be true...
  17. I’ve still got the new home page with the swirly ‘Open’ picture but, thankfully, when I go to What’s On it’s back to the old page where I can see more than one production at a glance. Happy days!
