  1. Evening My daughter had a non union fracture of her sesimoid bone while at Ballet school. It was successfully treated and she graduated and is now a professional dancer. My advice is your sister needs to get an mri scan on her foot and see a consultant/ surgeon that deals with feet and get a 2nd opinion. If she is at vocational school has she got medical insurance? An mri scan will confirm what is causing the pain. Hope this helps.

  12. Dear Mum in a spin My DD is currently at Central school of ballet. There has been talk of Central re-locating for several years but I imagine it is finances and the planning authorities that have brought it to a standstill at the moment... if indeed that is the case. The Paris Gardens site is student accommodation as it has its own website. I have never had a problem where Central is located at the moment. My DD commuted from Hampstead the first year and now resigns in student accommodation in the city. I have been very happy with the faculty at the school and would rather have excellent teaching than fantastic studios/accommodation.
  13. I enjoyed reading your 'Rant' and believe me you are not on your own. Children who venture on the long, hard, disciplined journey of dance are in my opinion very much in control of their lives as it takes a lot of courage to lead a different pathway to everyone else in their academic class at school. They will experience so many different emotions in their teenage years ranging from happiness/ success to extreme sadness/frustration and push themselves to the limit daily with absolutely no help from their academic schools! Juggling GCSE exams and auditions for vocational schools can be very stressful together with teachers not understanding why your DD wants to live home at sixteen, live in London and train to be a dancer instead of doing A levels and university!!
