  1. Snap! It's quite expensive way to insulate the loft though
  2. Wow! 100 responses in 24 hours - THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH - responses are an eye opener and not as anticipated from certain areas. Thank you all for your time - especially those who added comments ????
  3. If you have a spare 2 mins please would you mind completing this short survey for my daughters college course. She is researching "A dancers mentality". She would be very grateful for any contributions and happy to answer any questions. Thank you in advance for your help ???? https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/PL5QXKB (Fingers crossed this link works ????)
  4. Tezenis microfibres pants are worth a look. £10 for 3 pairs and come in a multitude of different colours and shapes to go under leotards. The store is as you come off tube at Oxford Circus but they do mail order. We combine pointe shoe/knicker shopping
  5. I watched your sons performance at ss earlier this month. He is a lovely lad and I wish him all the very best. May this be the first of many solos .
  6. Please Help! I'm looking for Polish National Boots. Any advice on where I start looking please? Thank you ????
  7. Micropore but not the (cheaper) paper version - the (dearer - isn't everything involved with ballet !!) one that is more fabric ..... It is softer and bends without folding.
  8. Daughter uses them .....ill ask her why! They come in a large tub and as long as you decant some into a smaller pot, keeping the big pot closed tightly, they seem to last. She was introduced to them some years back at summer school by a nurse.
  9. Thank you all for your advice - I know halls of residence offer this additional cover under the rent. I will investigate our own policy. Thank you
  10. Please how do people manage to get "contents insuance" for under 18's living away from home? I have spent all morning trawling the web and failed ! Thanks in advance ????
  11. Have you had a look at IDS, Weissman or Turnout Dancewear? I haven't ordered through these but they often have some lovely ideas. There are a number of FB pages selling both new or nearly new costumes too. Good luck with your search!
  12. This site has been invaluable over the last 2 years and at times I would have thought I was going mad without checking others weren't going through the same! Keep up the good work and thank you for all you do
  13. "just take a photo ......." Sounds lovely but very technical FlexyNexy!!
  14. I know each dancer is different ...... but how many pairs should I send DD with initially? I fully understand her feet may change due to the increase in training, and she will probably need to be re-fitted when she comes home next, but I don't know how many she will get through in the first half-term ..... I'm not really sure I really want to know the answer .... Also, to darn or not to darn?! Thank you for any advice
  15. Thank you and Sorry for delay Taxi4Ballet - I forgot I "strayed" from Doing Dance! She is awaiting an AS level result by post this morning .... Then her GCSE's on Thursday! She is fine - I'll be better when results are here! Oh well, off to stalk the postman......
  16. Did you enjoy summer school SwanPrincess? Could you see yourself doing this everyday ..... week in, week out? Do you get "itchy feet" if you have a break from regular dancing? Do you think you are apprehensive about the audition process which is giving you cold feet? I wish you all the very best for your choices this year. It is so hard, I know my daughter has friends who are going to local college to do A Level courses they really don't want to do, simply because they don't know what they do want to do .......
  17. Yes pointe is a part of all senior auditions. My daughter attended a pointe workshop at RAD a couple of years ago - maybe something to explore if you live close enough to London?
  18. Dd had this jab on Friday - it took her 72 hours to get over it properly so I think you may have made the right decision Taxi4ballet. She has had no problems with any other jabs but whilst her arm hurt a little the main side effect was she literally had NO energy .... To include not going dancing which is unheard of!!!! 72 hours later all forgotten but wiped out the weekend for her. Hope dd enjoys her SS.
  19. Hi, have a great time. RCS is incredibly friendly.
  20. I usually find all component parts of dd bun (including attached hair-yuk!) in the well beside the hand brake - it's the first thing she does when coming out of dancing! What doesn't get left there could be anywhere!! Anyone else consider taking out shares in grips and nets?!
  21. Dd has a sectioned plastic box with hinged lid bought from Sally's - it's called a Grip and Pin session Kit - it comes complete with a variety of hair pins, grips etc. it's not huge but robust enough in her dance bag. We took out some grips to give a section for nets.
