  2. I can't make it Friday, so if you want to go, drop me a PM and I'll send you the e-ticket. For your part of the bargain, you WILL post a full review on the production.
  3. A chap who started lessons at a ballet school I went to, and later spent time with several professional companies, does modelling between dance projects. I've seen him in a few catalogues.
  4. I came across this, audio books for lovers of classic fiction. Ariel Audio Information site Link (Beware: Some sections of this website may offend.)
  5. I learned of this on MelonFarmers As much of this site can offend, I have copied the text of the article: Rajan Zed is a perennial whinger who complains about hindu imagery being used outside of a religious context. He has taken offence at the ballet La Bayadère for its irreverent treatment of religion in general and hinduism in particular. The ballet seems to be on world tour with Zed whingeing at each venue that stages it. Zed spoke of performances by the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet claiming that: This deeply problematic ballet was just a blatant belittling of a rich civilization and exhibited 19th-century orientalist attitudes. Zed further said that Norwegian National Ballet should have shown some maturity before selecting a ballet like La Bayadère (The Temple Dancer) displaying Western caricaturing of Eastern heritage and abetting ethnic stereotyping. He added: It was highly irresponsible for Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, whose strategy stated We will create and present operas and ballets which make an impact; to choose such a ballet which had been blamed for patronizing flawed mishmash of orientalist stereotypes, dehumanizing cultural portrayal and misrepresentation, offensive and degrading elements, needless appropriation of cultural motifs, essentialism, shallow exoticism, caricaturing, etc. Norwegian National Opera & Ballet could do better than this to serve its diverse stakeholders. The Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Equality and its Minister Anette Trettebergstuen should also take its areas of responsibility culture, equality and discrimination more seriously, and have better understanding of the feelings of others to do the job more effectively. Now Norwegian National Opera & Ballet has refused to cancel its production and Zed is not happy: We plan to appeal to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre as it is simply unfair, unethical and inappropriate to spend taxpayer's money on caricaturing other culture. 8. I would much rather sit in a plush theatre than a drafty football stadium.
  9. Me too. I stopped understanding computers when they stopped looking like this. Chrome is very annoying with updates. Over the weekend, it decided an extension that I have used for years and has never been updated, contains malware and is now disabled by Chrome. The extension doesn't contain malware and besides, if I want to infect MY computer, I should be free to do so.
  10. HSTS (HTTP Strict Transport Security), is a web security policy mechanism that forces web browsers to interact with websites only via secure HTTPS connections (and never HTTP). It can cause problems. This might help in Chrome 1. Type this into the address bar chrome://net-internals/#hsts 2. In the query box type the domain (eg www.example.com or example.com) - don't type the full path. This will tell you if HSTS is active on that site. 3. In the delete box, type the domain and press delete. Your browser will no longer force an HTTPS connection for that site. You can test if its working properly by refreshing or navigating to the page.
  11. Benny Hill and Kay Frazer, doing a bit of ballet and other styles of dance. He even manages a shoulder lift.

  18. I've done syllabus classes in BBO, RAD and Cecchetti and of the three I prefer BBO. I like the longer sequences, which really make you concentrate and I think BBO is much more dancey than the others.

  20. Yikes! It was £25 when it was published and I thought that was a touch pricey when I bought mine. There is a copy in the British Library. I don't know if it available for an inter-library loan (I have no idea how that works), but if you're in London, you could probably have a look at it in the reading room (again I have no idea how that works).
