  1. Congratulations to your dd frogsmum, you must be very proud today
  2. Current students are being assessed in January and perhaps this will open up more places. . .
  3. Sorry to hear your news BM - all auditions are good experience and hopefully results will be different for your dd next time - all the best for her future x
  4. Hi Lil could you expand on intensive please
  5. Hi - is anyone able to advise as to whether Upper School auditions are similar in content to lower school auditions - is it just a class and physical check or are the candidates interviewed as well. Thank you for any insights that you can offer. My daughter is a year 10 at the moment and thinking that she would like to audition this year as a preparation for Upper School auditions next year - we are presuming that no year 11 places would be on offer due to GCSEs etc - for all you knowledgeable people, would this be a good preparation or not? Many thanks.
  6. My DD attended ENB in January and enjoyed the day and felt that the standard was higher than her level at the time (she was 13) she has also attended a couple of their summer schools and enjoyed them (although she felt there weren't enough english girls). We tried the Central Spring course this year and she loved it - we will be back for the day on the 9th On the days I don't think many corrections are given but it is a great eye opener to the audition process and there are lots of top tips.
  7. Thank you everyone for your input - if any of them had pre sewn ribbons - that would be the winner for me
  8. Is anyone able to tell me about their dds experiences with these shoes - I'm tempted by their reported longevity (my dds Blochs have lasted 3 weeks ) I have read mixed reports - would love to hear from forumite dancers (or their mums) and teachers - thank you
  9. Good Luck to all SAs starting today - have lots of fun
  10. My daughter enjoyed the summer with NYB - I was a little surprised that the older members of the company were smoking outside - shame they could not have been more discreet as the younger dancers do look up to them. . .
  11. Hi Pointytoes22 Good luck on Saturday For shoes head to Covent Garden - we always go to the Bloch shop as they suit my daughters feet but there are other shops in the locality including Carpezio and Sansha. Have fun!
  12. Gosh I'm an emotional wreck just reading these posts and it's another year before my daughter starts the round of 6th form auditions - I shall cherish the rushing and driving while it lasts Good luck to all starting at vocational school next week and a big "hug" to all you mums x

    NYB @ Tring

Dropped off my DD @ Tring this morning - hope she and any of other Balletco DC have a great 10 days
  14. I wouldn't worry - my daughter is 14 and will be taking grade 5 this christmas - she was lucky enough to be offered RBS SA this year and a place at Tring CBA - so we feel the lack of higher grades has not held her back so far. The important thing is that she loves to dance and doesn't want to rush for the sake of rushing. She has also attended summer schools and has not felt disadvantaged alongside her new found friends.
  15. Hi re water - you can take empty full size bottles and fill them from fountains once inside the park,i believe. Have a wonderful day
  16. Thanks Elly - look forward to meeting you
  17. Hi Elly my daughter will be starting SAs but we haven't received a pack. Would be grateful if you could advise date of 1st class as I need to organise work rota - thank you
  18. We haven't received our timetable yet Can anyone tell me the date that they will commence classes please.
  19. Wishing you lots of luck ballerinaX and congratulations on your audition results
  20. Hi Margot - I think that the Ofsted report is an overview of the whole school - academic as well as the vocational side. Of all the disciplines offered, from what I understand, ballet has been identified as an area that might benefit from a fresh approach. My daughter recently went to view Tring and thought it to be "amazing". She will start at their CBA in September so I shall have 1st hand experience of their ballet tuition. From what we saw of the children there,we deduced that the school was a warm and welcoming establishment with happy pupils - in my mind they must be doing something right.
  21. Am I correct in thinking that the solo must be choreographed by a RAD teacher?

  23. He's been! it's a yes for my DD
