Hello lovely people , I have been thinking about all of your talented children who were due to graduate this year especially. How are they all ? Was wondering what the current situation is , are they going back to their original schools in September to re- take the final year.? Or are they expected just to start auditioning as normal whenever that may be ? What are your thoughts on future auditions ? Do you think there will be as many ? Will some smaller companies be in a financial position to carry on ? Will some small theatres survive ?? so many questions I would love your views on and many more if you feel the urge to reply

I feel I need to vent my DD who graduated last year decided ballet was not the route she wanted to go down and only done one audition for a company place . She decided the wanted to see the world and audition for cruises. she has been successful and off she went . just had a mother message me after not seeing her for more than 3 years when her dd and mine went to different upper schools , saying what a shame she has given up Ballet and how disappointed I must be for her .. what a waste of 3 years of classical ballet training ... What ??? I’m certainly not disappointed but I am a little mad about having to defend her decision. am I being over sensitive ?

I wondered if anyone’s knows of any successful Uk applicants that have been invited to audition in February ? If they require 40 dancers will they just audition 40/50 as they have narrowed it down that much from the application or would it be done on a much grander scale of 100 + auditionees ?

Update , I watched the ballet semi final at Sadlers Wells last night and had a wonderful evening. Some beautiful performances both ballet and contemporary. Representatives from Elmhurst, Central , ENB, ballet West and KS Dance. I was a little surprised to see only 2 out of the 14 semi - finalists were boys. I don’t envy the judges picking the final line up of 5 !!

I’ve have checked on-line but cannot see anywhere is the names of the semi finalists for each genre that have been selected this year ? In particular the ballet semi finalists. or are these not publicised?

Hi dancing shoes if you are on Facebook there is a group you can join called ballet tutus and dancewear for sale second hand or new, , . Some fabulous second hand children's tutus for sale , mostly between £40 and £80 pound and they post them out to you, might be worth a look

Yes dd said it was a big class and was hoping they would rotate the lines for the centre work but unfortunately they didn't and was on the back row .. To be honest though she knows it was a long shot and I'm sure they look at all the children but it was just the way she perceived the situation. Onwards and upwards as they say !

My DD daughter auditioned yesterday and was actually behind the panel at the bar and said unless they both craned their necks they would not have seen any of her bar work and said , they glanced at her once only. She was abit disappointed too
