  1. Yes, they do need to rectify this in some way, as I spent an evening constantly checking if it was a fault that had been subsequently rectified. 😡 Also, confusingly, if I used the find my seat for me option, it did bring up a stalls circle seat with a pillar blocking the view for me to put in my basket that wasn't available on the seat map 🤔
  2. Has anyone else had probs, yesterday and today, buying SL tickets on the ROH website please? It says there are 31 tickets on June 14th for example, but when you go to the seat map there are noe available.\
  3. Wow, Red Shoes, that's amazing! I have fibromyalgia and arthritis, but find that ballet is the one exercise that doesn't hurt (well it does a bit afterwards!) Yoga kills me! But like you, my exam marks are good in the performance and musicality even if the technique is not so high, and as you get to the higher grades, these attributes become even more important.
  4. I learnt grades 3 and 4 in a beginner's adult class, so had to go to some teen classes to learn the harder elements. They barely noticed me....😁
  5. Hiya, we persuaded our teacher to let us do RAD grades as an adult. She started us at Grade 3 as being most appropriate for adults. I started ballet about eight years ago and didn't do it as a child, but always wished I had. I got my Garde 3 before lockdown and my Grade 4 in January this year. We're now on to Grade 6 (missing Grade 5, as there are beginner adults in the class who would find it too difficult). The examiners have been fantastic about it. I did Grade 4 exam with another lady, and the examiner, who had seen children and teens all day, said it was a lovely way to end the day 🥳. My jumps are low, my extensions are rubbish, but she scored me highly on performance and musicality. I guess that there are some gains as you get older. 😁
  6. My friend and I saw performance on Wednesday and were wondering if the 'Stars' were danced by students as they all looked smaller than the other dancers?
  7. Is there anyone else in their 60s doing RAD grades? I'd love to chat!
  8. Hi, does anyone know the running time if Cinderella please, incl intervals?
  9. I have found a fabulous teacher of adult ballet, who is taking us through the RAD graded exams. We are about to begin Grade 5 in the New Year. If anyone is interested, please contact me for details. The class is at Burnham on Sea. It's not often you find a teacher willing to teach adults the RAD grades! We have had a couple of people leave because of moving away.
  10. Had two fabulous evenings on Thursday and Friday, grinning like a goon the whole way through. Hadn't bought tickets in advance, but bought them about 7.15pm each night, asking for their best cheapest ticket, and expecting to be at the back of the rear circle, and instead, found myself, both nights, a few rows from the stage in centre front stalls for £26.50! Might be a tip worth knowing!
  11. I go to an adult ballet class on a Wednesday eve in Burnham on sea, which is the best adult ballet class I've done, lovely teacher, and those that want to can even do the RAD grades. We have two ladies leaving soon if anyone wants to join. Email me if interested, and I'll give you full details. christinesculfor3@gmail.com
  12. Hello, I make bespoke lined lycra leotards and can make them Longer in the body if needed. Because they are bespoke, I make them from measurements you send me. I usually use Jalie patterns. Email me at christinesculfor3@gmail.com if you would like me to make one for your daughter. Prices start at £80.
  13. I've just seen that a company called Crown Ballet are coming to a local theatre. I've never heard of them before. Does anyone know who they are?
  14. I have a few leotards in size 16/18 long body for sale. Made for attending ballet class and never worn.
  15. I have various leotards for sale that I made myself (I usually make tutus) for adult ballet class, but which I've never worn....just made too many. Would suit an adult 16-18 and probably on the tall side. Please email me if interested. christinesculfor3@gmail.com
  16. Are you still looking?
  17. Hi, I was thinking of buying one of the RAD Grade 4/5 DVDs to help me with my forthcoming Grade 4 examination. However, the RAD are a bit unclear in their description of what it contains. Does anyone have a copy please? I don't want to buy it (it is quite expensive) if all that is on it are demonstrations of each of the set exercises and dances, without breaking down some of the more difficult exercises, for instance. This is because, I have found an RAD run through of all the set exercises and dances for Grade 4 on You Tube. So I'm wondering if then official DVD provides more than that? Help please!
  18. This is my way....and it seems to work! When I send out tutu orders to customers, I beg large crisp boxes (the ones with many packets of crisps in) from Tesco. Best to go during shelf stacking, late evening. Sometimes they are the right size, but mostly I cut them down a bit, not difficult, so that the box measures no more than 46cms x 46 cms x 63 cms. This qualifies it as a 'medium parcel', and as such, is less than £5 to send second class. You can pay a bit more for extras like signed for, etc. I then line the box with a plastic sheet, in case the box gets wet, and I lay the tutu on top of the open box and push it down in the centre, so that the sides come up all around the bodice. The hoop will bend in places to accommodate this, but with the excellent hoop material you can now get, they should spring out at the other end and you should be able to give them a quick shake to get them to how they were before packing. I always tell customers to expect a crisp box, and that while I know it doesn't look very professional, I point out that the extra I might have spent on specially made boxes with my branding on would have had to be added to the price of their tutu..... I've not had any complaints about this method yet!
