Ellen
Hi Does my DD need to be on pointe before she auditions for lower school ? Also do they have to have a certain level of RAD grades achieved ? Thanks
dancing pickles
There is no pointe work involved in lower school auditions. Doesn't matter about grades either, they are looking for potential

angel
Most DD's are somewhere around Grade 5/Intermediate Foundation at this age. No pointe work does not have to have been started but it certainly helps to have done a fair amount of preparation and strengthening. Picturesinthefirelight
My dd tells me that a girl entered year 9 not having done pointe before but by the Easter had caught up.
angel
Depends which school you're talking about I suppose but I think if you want to make life easier for your DD then I wouldn't recommend not doing any before year 9
Billyelliott
No and no ! For year 7 entry and not crucial for yr 8 either !
Busymum
I agree. Definitely isn't necessary for yr 7 entry or even yr 8. Even if they are already en pointe they are often stopped for a while and then all start together. My DD starting full time school in September, yr 7 and isn't doing pointe work yet.
