Circe
I am sure i came across a list of yumi contacts recently- seemed to be dancers from various companies in UK....sorry cant remember where abouts it was but a bit of searching should unearth it. Loulabelle - i think they are reps for yumiko leotards- a trendy make that you can customise!
aballetlife
I know there is yumigirls I'm the uk, I'm not sure where though, I've seen it on Instagram before... maybe you could search on there and try find someone?
Kat09
Loulabelle - they are Japanese designed by Yumiko Takashima and manufactured there. Big in the US and they now have a boutique in Berlin. Anodancer_15 I have sent you a pm
anondancer_15
reason I ask is I applied to be a YumiGirl yesterday not expecting anything to come of it but got an email back today so I'm just weighing up the pros and cons of going ahead with it.
aballetlife
ah, not sure if this is of any use but (this is mainly in America) I always see people asking if anyone wants to order yumikos through them on Instagram and they'll post it so the buyer gets the discount and the yumigirls gets the orders! anondancer_15
aballetlife - this is what I've been looking into although I've noticed a few discrepancies over whether or not yumigirls are allowed to sell over Instagram/Twitter etc
taxi4ballet
Don't forget that if you decide to sell on a commercial basis like this then you will need to register as self-employed with the Inland Revenue and do tax returns.
anondancer_15
taxi4ballet that didn't even cross my mind at all... but surely it's not self employed if I'm just a rep for the company?
aballetlife
hm I have no idea about taxes and stuff but I didn't think you had to do that. I saw someone post that you can use social media to sell to people who don't already have a yumigirl at their school / company?
Kat09
The yumi girls "officially" are only supposed to sell to their school/company - minimum of 10 pieces per season. Even with a discount they are expensive and as our vocational schools have uniforms I think that 10 will be a tall order. It is also mandatory to purchase a fabric sample kit .... It's weighted in the company favour in my mind.
anondancer_15
however yumigirls do get a free item with every order and it's free shipping as well as the discount so it does work out a bit cheaper...the starter fabric kit is £20 so a couple of orders and free leos later it would be worthwhile. Katymac
With these sort of things you have to think of 'worst case senario' How many seasons a year? What happens if you don't sell the required amount? In some schemes you can be charged the amount you didn't sell so you come out with a debt If you don't sell the required amount over several seasons what happens? What are your requirements for Tax & NI - could the 'free items & free postage be seen as 'wages' and therefore you owe Tax on them Is your status clearly employed/self-employed? If someone absconds with the goods without paying who is liable for the cost (probably you) These things are rarely in the favour of the seller & often completely unfair
taxi4ballet
Payment 'in kind' - ie freebies do actually count as income. If you are earning anything you have to declare it and that includes receiving goods/services instead of actually being paid money. (This doesn't apply if you are selling a few used personal possessions or unwanted gifts on sites such as ebay etc). Sorry to be the bringer of sad tidings, but I have put my 'Day Job' accountancy hat on for this one!!!

Moomin
I think there is a cut off income below which you don't have to declare sales but citizens advice should be able to tell uou
