Changes to the BalletcoForum Acceptable Use Policy - please read

As the board membership has grown and discussions have proliferated we have found various areas in which further guidance and rules are needed. These rules are incorporated in revisions of the Accceptable Use Policy document to which members have to agree when signing up.

It is very important that all members should review this document and abide by it.

The latest version of the Acceptable Use Policy is to be found here and also by clicking the Guidelines link on the Browse tab.

We have modified the BalletcoForum community guidelines (http://tinyurl.com/os6xjqd) to make the rules about links to personal websites and blogs more comprehensive. An additional paragraph in the section labelled Links to your personal or commercial site is as follows:

In addition, the use of BalletcoForum as a regular conduit to your own website or blog is not acceptable. An occasional link is permissible but habitually including links (more than once or twice in a week) is not. It is however quite in order to include a link to your site or blog in a signature line (as detailed above for commercial users).

We have modified the BalletcoForum community guidelines (http://tinyurl.com/os6xjqd) to clarify the rules about Commerce by the addition of an extra final paragraph, viz.

These rules apply to all those promoting, or posting on behalf of, commercial enterprises including, but not limited to, vendors of goods and services, dance companies, dance schools and holiday courses.

Members should be aware that we have added a new clause to our Community guidelines which relates to linking of videos and photos:

Videos, photos and copyright issues The very widespread availability of videos and photographs on media websites such as YouTube, photo sharing and so-called ‘torrent’ sites which allow media downloads raises problems of acknowledgement and copyright. When links to videos and photos are made on this site it is the member's responsibility to satisfy themselves that rights are respected. We reserve the right to remove links where we believe this not to be the case.

We have modified the Community guidelines to include the following:

Forum rules prohibit members from acting disingenuously, including by personation or wilfully misrepresenting themselves. Members who do this face suspension from the forum.

This makes more explicit the problem of members representing themselves as something they are not, and emphasises the seriousness with which we take it.
