Dancewear purchasing advice

So I finally found an adult ballet class, I tried it last night and now I'm thinking I have an excuse to go on a dancewear shopping spree! It's been a while since I've bought any dancewear so I'm hoping people might be able to give some advice.

So my questions are, shopping online for the following things, where would you use? Which brands would you recommend for:

Black stirrup tights

Pink convertible tights (I have the capezio ultrasoft ones at the moment, they are nice but need replacing)

A skirt of some sort

Leotard

What do you think is a flattering outfit/ leotard or skirt style for an adult? The others were wearing leggings and a t shirt but it doesn't feel right to not have a leotard tights and a bun!

I've splurged on long sleeved leotards with lace & mesh arms & back. Very elegant, and mean they convert my fattish arms into something with a reasonably elegant line.

I have this one:

and this one

(both purchased in a DanceDirect sale)

I just wish that the fashion for low cut legs wasn't so extreme; I remember when the really high cut legs were all you could get. Now the leg line I think is unflatteringly low - I wish there were a happy medium!

Hi Munchkin and congratulations on getting to ballet class - but as Fiz said, be warned, ballet is addictive!

I've just agreed to be in a show with my adult class - it will be my first ever stage appearance and after dancing for 35 years, that's a huge step for me!!

It does help to feel the part for class, I can't imagine not having a bun for class - I know lots of adults just wear ponytails, but it would annoy me so much when I turn!

Anyway, for your outfit I would suggest a tank leotard and simple skirt to start, with maybe black tights if you don't feel ready for pink! It's funny, but pink tights is always the stumbling block for adults! That and the fact that without a few inches of see through chiffon around your hips, you feel naked :D I can't do class without a skirt, even though it covers hardly anything! Ballet is full of strange practices!

Here's the link to our leotards https://www.justballet.co.uk/collections/ladies You can sort the leotards by type - camisole, long sleeve, tank etc

We have revamped the site and I hope you find it easy to use! You may well spot a few BalletCo DDs on there too!

Adult skirts are here: https://www.justballet.co.uk/collections/adult-skirts A basic black wrap is £7.99 or we can make to measure in a variety of prints.

For tights, there are lots to choose from and everyone develops their favourite - my current favourite are Russian Pointe as the convertible tights have no annoying toe seam!

I hope that helps, but just shout if you have any questions!

Low-cut legs means less maintenance when it comes to shaving! Depending on how long your torso is, they're not always so low, my leotards are always riding up and pulling at the crotch!
