  2. Hello does anyone have a list of summer courses in England please? or masterclasses thank you 🙏🏻
  3. Our popular Summer School returns this year . 2023 dates are 31st July - 5th August inclusive . This year we are welcoming Martin Dutton from Hammond School and Barnaby Packham from National Moravian Silesian Ballet Company , along with other prestigious teachers . The performance in the theatre on the Saturday will either be Swan Lake or Sleeping Beauty . Ages 6 years upwards - classes are kept small to enable lots of personal corrections . We aim for 12 or less in senior classes . Ballet , contemporary and repertoire will be taught , also a few jazz classes ( optional ) We offer this to daily students , or can provide home stays if requested . The venue is Keighley , West Yorkshire. This year we have students coming from Elmhurst , Tring , Moorlands and also locally trained non vocational . We even have a student joining us from the Czech Republic , which is wonderful . We have received some great feedback over the years - but I’m not sure if anyone is still on the forum who could kindly share their experience? We are extremely reasonably priced too !! Please message me privately if you want further details . Thank you Tutugirl
  4. Does anyone have any experience of either of these? My daughter is keen to try one and has heard of the Masterclasses from friends. Are they both equally good? She is 16 and at pre-vocational level hoping to commence vocational training in September 2023. i was wondering about the faculty, accomodation, level of difficulty and fun! Many thanks
  5. Does anyone know the best type of insurance to cover if you can’t attend summer school in case of illness or injuries?
  6. I would be grateful to hear about personal experiences of DCs who have attended this summer intensive in the past (especially the junior, age 13-15 group). The information says classes are from 9am-6pm with a gala on the last day. How did your DCs find the standard of the class? Are class sizes big? Was it easy to find accommodation? What is the venue like? Is the area (Volta Mantovana) easy to get to? Are classes conducted in English? Any information and feedback would be appreciated Just trying to gauge if it would be worth my DD doing this intensive this summer too. It’s the first time she’s doing intensives in a few years and is already also going to do a week each of Masterclasses in Prague and White Lodge SI. Worried it might be too much for one summer or that she might be out of her depth especially since she only dances in the weekends and does no classes during the week at all.
  7. Anyone waiting for ENBS SI results? My understanding was that we would hear this week, but havent heard anymore so I'm getting fidgetty now in case Ive missed something? Anyone got any updates or results?
  8. Dd loved Rambert summer school last year, but the dates clash with another commitment this year. Can anyone recommend something similar? Ideally lots of contemporary, some jazz and ballet. She’ll be 15 by then, and in terms of level she’s done Intermediate in ballet. We’re London based but would consider something residential depending on cost / location / curriculum / safeguarding.
  9. Hi. Just wondered if anyone has booked or is booking for week 1 for Malvern Ballet Seminars? It will be my DD’s first residential and she is going not knowing anyone which apparently she is totally fine with. Me not so much. Any tips on what to take for a residential would be greatly received too.
  10. My annual Summer School will be held on August 1st - 5th inclusive. It will take place at University Academy Keighley This culminates with the students performing in the theatre , which is open to all . The course is open to Vocational and non vocational students of all levels . We usually get a nice cross section . Groups are small to enable individual attention. Our focus is Classical and includes : ballet , contemporary, pas de deux and jazz . Faculty includes : Martin Dutton from the Hammond Vocational School , Barnaby Packham and Rita Pires , company members from National Moravian Silesian Ballet Theatre - more to be announced . We can offer home stays for those wanting residential . I am hoping that there are still some forum members who could write a testimony . Harwel ? Ponklemum ? Pinkballetsocks shygirlsmum ? Its a happy friendly Summer School with great teachers . Very reasonably priced - and a wonderful opportunity to perform before an audience . Message me for more details . If you send me your mobile number and your name - I can WhatsApp it all across - with pictures and a video of previous years . Thank you
  11. “Summer School 2022 - Are you interested in applying for a place at Northern Ballet School, an international centre of excellence in training for classical ballet and musical theatre? Our free summer course offers you a taste of what that training is really like. This two-day course will introduce you to the building and facilities and some of the tutors. It will help to build your technique and performance, gain confidence and meet like-minded people. You will also get to watch our NBS Summer Show dress rehearsal in The Dancehouse Theatre on Thursday 7th, getting a real flavour of life as an NBS student and the performance opportunities given”
  12. Is there a thread for the 2022 SI at POBS? I can't find one.
  13. Has anyone been to the Rambert summer school recently? I couldn’t see anything about it by searching, and dd is considering it as she’d like a focus on contemporary. https://www.rambertschool.org.uk/courses/young-peoples-courses/summer-course/

  15. Hi all, Ive been trying to compile a list of summer schools for this summer that are in person rather than online. This may be somewhat optimistic - but I’m aware that some deadlines are looming so wanted to do some information gathering sooner rather than later! My dancer will soon be thinking about whether she wants to apply to vocational school and if so, which ones. I’ve therefore been restricting my searches to summer schools that have post 16 courses. I think this might give her a taster of the school generally. She’s not yet sure whether she wants to go down the classical route or aim for a more varied dance education. Just to restrict things further, I haven’t gone for any London locations - we’re not ruling them out but thinking that maybe next summer we will have a closer look at those as options. So far, our list for summer schools consists of: Elmhurst, Northern Ballet School (couldn’t find this on their website as the page link states it doesn’t exist, however when using google I came across the application form for this year), Tring, KS Dance Moorland (missed the deadline for this one). I can’t seem to find any info on whether Hammond is going ahead. Maybe someone has some info on this? I haven’t included RBS as I’m sure the deadline for that has passed. I was desperately hoping that RCS would go ahead this summer, but I received an email today that suggests it is online only, which is frustrating. This one was at the top of our list! Have I missed any others that are worth considering? I know there are a few amazing summer schools that aren’t attached to vocational courses - but we wanted to kill two birds with one stone really, and try and get a taste of a school whilst attending a summer course. Also if anyone does recommend any London based summer schools, please do suggest them. Any guidance or suggestions gratefully received!
  16. Has anyone got any experience with it? I don’t know much about it at all!
  17. I wondered if anyone felt it would be useful to share thoughts and experiences on the dance/ballet Easter or summer schools their children have taken part in this year? I thought it might be useful, given that there is often a choice and they can’t do them all (even if they would like to!) for people to share any experiences that they have had... It’s a good way to find out what is out there too! I am happy to share my DDs experiences this year if others are similarly interested 😊. She has really enjoyed both of the courses she did this year and found them very different from one another!
  18. Looking at this & rather confused....maybe I have missed something Am I right that for selection process you can choose to either send in an audition video or attend alive audition? For latter it states that you must write preferred date/venue on application form & refers you to audition page on website for dates. These dates seem surely to relate just to entry for Full Time Training? Or are these for Summer School also? From people's past experience, by roughly what time do people hear if they have been selected for SS? I imagine it to be a case of the sooner accommodation is booked, the cheaper it is..... And are there are scholarships/funding routes at all? Ever hopeful
  19. Hi there My first post here, so thank you for reading. Have any of you ever done the Tring Summer school with boarding? Just the four days? My little girl will be nearing 11 and is really keen to give it a go, but with the age range from 9-18 and her being only 10 at the time, I worry she would be the youngest by years and would feel well out of her depth. Do younger children board too? She thinks it's a dance camp! Thank you
  20. Does anybody have any experience of this summer school? My 15 year old daughter is keen to go but I’m reluctant to sign her up as she won’t know anybody and she will need to stay in accommodation provided as we live too far away to commute. Classes finish at 4pm so I’m wondering what they do in the evening? The last day to register is tomorrow as I’m leaving it all to the very last minute........ Thank you in advance
  21. Hello does anyone know of any ballet summer schools or intensive workshops in the summer holidays in the south east? Asking for my 8 year old daughter, who will go spare without ballet over the long break.
  22. Hi all We are looking for a summer school for my DD that doesn't require an audition and is open to recreational dancers. She loves ballet, and is currently working at RAD Grade 6 and Intermediate after moving from a previous school which kept her from progressing at all. She doesn't want to be professional, but wants to be the best she dancer she can be. Ideally the location would be Yorkshire or Scotland due to family reasons. Any suggestions?
  23. Iam over in Australia but wonder if a website/list/topic already on here exists of all summer schools offered in dance in the uk..... looking at UK summer 2018 for a 11 year old dance crazy girl So far iam aware of RBS Elmhurst Yorkshire ballet summer school do others exist which are RAD ballet focused? any tips wrt numbers applying for these would be very helpful thanku x
  24. Dear ALL We are extremely honoured and excited to announce that Director, Oliver Matz from Tanz Akademie Zurich will be joining our International Summer Schools in 2019. Oliver travels the globe sharing his knowledge, judging the BIGGEST competitions in the world, successfully training the winners of many major competitions. He is an extremely busy, and important figure in the Ballet World today, and to have him choose 'Woodside Dance Retreat' as his only UK Summer School in 2019 is a big deal. A BIG, BIG, DEAL. If you have not secured a Summer School for 2019, then please email nicola@woodsidedanceretreat.com to get the final few places and ask about our payment plan to help spread the cost until next summer. Oliver Matz will join our already confirmed incredible line up below to share his extensive knowledge for a full day with our lucky 12 students:- Edward Watson MBE (Principal Dancer Royal Ballet Company) Ricardo Cervera (Ballet Master Royal Ballet Company) Anita Young (Royal Ballet Company and RBS) ONLY 12 students. Plus a few little extra's as normal :- 2 x professional photo shoots, one on location. 1 x West End theatre trip and return by Limo. Course fee's £1,395.00. We are not the cheapest Summer School, but we feel we offer something incredible, personal and a once in a life time experience which could change your dance career forever. We hope to hear from you soon Many thanks Nicola Moriarty Principal
  25. Hi my daughter wants to apply for the RBS spring intensive and summer school for 2019. She isnt bothered which one she attends if she is even lucky enough to receive a place (she knows its a huge long shot). Question I have though ....can we do one application and one application fee to cover all 3 options? Or do we do a seperate application for spring intensive and one for summer school? I have emailed and asked but no reply yet. Also has anyone applied and know when we will be notified of results? Is a week for spring intensive long enough? Has anyone had a child attend? thanks
