  1. Hello, I’m new here! I’ve been reading the forum and found it so informative. I am looking for advice for my daughter - she is 10 and about to start Year 6. She attends our local dance school where she does ballet twice a week, as well as tap, acro, modern and musical theatre. She absolutely loves dancing. She recently successfully auditioned for the English Youth Ballet. I have been looking into options for extra training for her, alongside her regular classes. Her dance school offered extra associate type classes for some students until earlier this year but those have stopped for now. I’ve been looking at the various associate classes (we are in the South East) and I’ve booked her into the RBS insight day in September. At 10 is she already too old for me to be looking into this? Her current aim is to train in musical theatre not ballet specifically, but she loves ballet and wants to continue to a high level. Are associate programmes only for those who plan to apply for vocational ballet training? I would also appreciate any suggestions for holiday courses. She did some local dance school summer camps this year but she was too old for them really. Thank you from a newbie trying to navigate this world!
  2. Happy New Year to you all! The online application for MIDAS auditions for 2017 (September start) is now live again via www.midas-dance.org.uk. Students must be year 4 or above (going into year 5 in September). Pupils who are associates of the Royal Ballet School do not need to audition to join MIDAS, but due to a large demand for places all other prospective students must audition. Auditions will be held on a Sunday, towards the end of May/beginning of June. Audition dates will only be allocated after the closing date of April 30th. If you have any questions about the scheme that you cannot find the answer to via a forum search, or on the website then please feel free to PM me.
  3. Hello there Folks, New here to ballet forum so hello to you all! So I run New Works Ballet Theatre, a new ballet company based in Bristol, with the intention of bringing more ballet to the South West of England and beyond, brand new inventive ballets and retellings and creating more jobs for professional dancers. The company also runs an Associates programme, which I am expanding on. Are there any young dancers out there looking to train more professionally who would be interested? The programme teaches not only ballet and contemporary dance, but also a variety of different dance workshops, choreography, ballet history, sports science, nutrition, how to run a company and put on productions to name but a few. Also the Associates regularly perform with the professional company and in their own productions. I really want the training that the youngers receive to be a gate way of training into the company, would anyone be interested in that? We have just started work on our Winter production of Little Mermaid. xx

There is NO AUDITION required to join the Pre-Associate Programme – all we look for in our young dancers is potential, and a strong sense of dedication to the art.
