  1. My daughter has been given a place for the junior modern ballet course at RCS in the summer holidays. Just wanted to know if anyone has any experience of this course and if it’s worth it for an 8 year old to attend? Thanks
  2. Dd loved Rambert summer school last year, but the dates clash with another commitment this year. Can anyone recommend something similar? Ideally lots of contemporary, some jazz and ballet. She’ll be 15 by then, and in terms of level she’s done Intermediate in ballet. We’re London based but would consider something residential depending on cost / location / curriculum / safeguarding.
  3. I am applying for my daughter today and wondered if anyone has any insights to share on WL summer intensives ? What is on the timetable? What to expect…
  4. My DS is attending London Studio Centre for Summer School in July 2015 and is keen to try homestay. I did not realise that the homestay websites charge for enquiries, so I was keen to know if anyone else is hooked up with a homestay for the summer school and who they organsed this through? Many thanks for any advice
  5. My dd did Elmhurst Junior summer school last year and I re applied for this year. I received an email in the middle of March saying they’ll let us know if it’s going ahead at the end of May. To anyone else that has had this email, will they also be offering the places out at the same time or does the email mean they have a place should the course go ahead?
  6. Hello My DD has recently shown me this and I wondered if it was worth sharing on here, http://www.russianballetinternational.com/auditions/auditions-cities/leicester-2/
  7. Hello my name is Sabrina I need a room with cooking facilities from 15 to 28 July during ENB summer school. Can you help me?
  8. Hi, I am doing a summer course at ENBS this summer during the period 15-27 July. Looking for a roommate, ideally another student in the ENBS summer program. BR, Mathilda (age 16)
  9. When I joined this forum I was committed to keeping post regular and interesting! Fail!! Life, motherhood and extra teaching has put a stop to that! However I have just finished a wonderful 6 months at Rambert School and now finally have a minute to think and communicate! If your dancers aged 8+ and up to 16 years of age are looking for some summer performance fun! And you can commute to Highbury, North London, then do consider my 'Summer Sensations' workshop weeks in August. There are plenty of big name summer schools that will aim to boost your technique; and so my weeks are performance weeks... a little treat which will boost your STAGE PRESENCE and your CONFIDENCE and remind you, if you need, that ballet is GREAT FUN!! (well yes ok I will boost your technique too, I can't help it!) We have so much fun and you will be entertained and amazed at how much we can create in 5 days when you watch the performance/s at the end of the week/s. These workshops are suitable for vocational and non-vocational dancers; I do have children from vocational schools joining me (White Lodge, YDA, Italia Conti, Tring, Royal Ballet MAs etc) but I also am pleased to meet non-vocational children who are dancing purely for fun... a wonderful time is had by all. I am pretty sure there are some parents and dancers on this forum who can validate this for me Please do email for further information and/or to book. There is a £50 discount for anyone booking before May 1st 2018 BACK TO TRAINING IN AUGUST I also have a back to training week in August. This runs for 5 half days and consists of YOGA for dancers, a Ballet class (with me!) plus a gentle stretch. Venue to be confirmed. Happy Dancing one and all and do get in touch Sarah

  13. Hi there have decided to put in an application for my daughter to attend RBS SS. Will take photos tomorrow. Any advice, tips, suggestions? Any opinions if we should apply for week 1 or week 2. Shes 12. Any general advice/thoughts? Thanks!
  14. I thought I had decided on which summer school to do, until a kind member suggested OPES! Wow. It looks great to do up to 3 weeks of ballet! In weeks the English school system can do! So, could anybody tell me what OPES is like? RBS is my first choice of course, but I thought I had decided on Moorland. Can anybody tell me what Moorland SS is like too? I feel like I'm going to end up doing a week at Ballet West, a week Moorland and a week OPES, but I doubt my parents would agree! Thank you!
  15. Just saw some dancers started sharing on social media about this new summer coaching programme. Sounds very good! “Prague Ballet Intensive (PBI) provides a high quality pre-professional and professional international ballet coaching program, coached by the experienced principal dancers, teachers and choreographers, from the top European, Russian and North American ballet companies. PBI participants will spend 11 working days and over 80 intensive hours of gyrokinesis, ballet classes, variations, pas de deux and contemporary concluded with yoga class each evening. PBI is specially created for (pre)professional and professional dancers aged 17 – 35 years old. A full schedule of training for all participants ensures individual attention and intensive training for every participant. You will receive corrections and coaching to raise your technique and artistry to the next level and prepare you for the world stage of ballet performances. By the end of PBI pas de deux and variations will be filmed (upon request) and later on given to our attendees for the purpose of future auditions or self-critique. Our goal is to spend an even amount of time with each attendee during all our classes, therefore places in our course will be LIMITED. We are also excited to introduce to you Marianna Khidirova as our pianist for PBI 2017. Join us this summer and be prepared work with a passionate team.. we look forward to meeting you! Jiří Jelínek and PBI Team” http://www.pragueballetintensive.com/
  16. Hello I very sorry if this already been made as a formula! Is there any really good ballet summer schools or Easter course that any of you recommend? Summer schools in England mainly round Birmingham but don't mind travelling to London or anywhere else . One last thing this isn't relevant to this subject but does anyone have any tips to stop a sickle foot (i do theraband stretches ) . Thank you sorry it's really long !
  17. I can't seem to find a website for this school well, I can but it is not as informative as the one I remember browsing before. I recall reading about their summer school and spring mid term camp but has their website changed? I cannot find any practical information about it now. Help!
  18. Hi I thought it would be useful to compile a list of summer schools which have funding available - in UK and abroad. Any starters?
  19. I apologise if this question has already been asked but I can't seem to find it. Elmhurst Summer school for a 14 yr old. What Grade (pref incl marks for latest exam) are the other girls that have been successful in the past that have been offered a place? How many apply (success rate in applying) and how many in each class, are they split per age or grades? Can't appear to find any info on the website. ???? Thank you. Ps Any further info gratefully received ????
  20. We have to book holiday dates for next summer so I'm trying to pin down SS dates. I've researched on here and think I've narrowed it down to Opes or York Dance Assembly. Which would you recommend for a first time residential. ..lots of ballet but perhaps some musical theatre too. Know I'm asking a lot now but does anybody have any dates for 2017? Thanks...you're all brilliant.
  21. Deal all, I am looking for affordable accommodation for my 15 year old daughter in London during Central Summer School from 27.7.2014 till 9.8.2014. Can anybody please give us tips or advice? I am also happy for her to stay with a "dancing" family. Thank you.
  22. Myself and a colleague are running 3 days of 'back to school' dance training in CENTRAL Birmingham at a bargain price of £100 for 3 days! (Considering how much I normally charge these days this is a total steal!!!!!!!!!!) Seriously though - I will be teaching all day, every day on this course and will focus on placing and technique, strength, safe flexibility, injury prevention as well as teaching all of the tips I have learnt from people like Rebecca Davies, Tahlysia Smedley and Rosina Andrews to get you turning more easily, jumping higher and doing all those fun leaps and tricks SAFELY! (Includes classes in Progressing Ballet Technique) It is open to ANY dancer from age 8 upwards - and I can also accommodate private coaching time for anyone who is looking for help with something specific, or wants to learn some exercises to help with their dancing or prevent injury. To apply just complete a registration form on www.midas-dance.org.uk - no payment will be needed until the first day of the course. **** VENUE: Sir Doug Ellis Woodcock Sports Centre, Aston University B4 7ET - Walking distance from the stations*******
  23. So at the moment I'm 14 but for next years summer schools I will be 15 (by one month, annoying!) Anyway, I was wondering what sort of standards would be accepted for a 15 year old at a good summer school (rbs, elmhurst, enbs)? Also, the last exam I've done is grade 5 however I will have done my inter f before the summer school but after the forms have to be sent in. I know that no where is going to accept me with grade 5 what should I do?
  24. Hello first post so hope this is allowed. As a none dancer, I have been reading a whole different world on this forum of JA, Associates, Vocational school etc, but living in Oxfordshire we are a little away from all the main ballet activities. For people like me, whose daughter likes to dance but would like something affordable and local, Abingdon Youth Ballet run a summer school for a week, this year the theme is Sleeping Beauty the first week of August. Days are a mixture of technical class, prop making and a repertoire class with a demonstration and performance at the end. Ages 8 to 18 usually split to the two levels of ability, with boys welcomed. Abingdon Youth Ballet don't have a web page but do have a Facebook page with some details of the summer school. https://www.facebook.com/abingdonyouthballet/ PS I have no commercial links just happy customers, mum and DD aged 9.
  25. Are there any other boys doing this summer school?
