  1. Hi all, Bit of a strange one for my first post here (also not sure if this is in the correct forum, sorry - please do move if not!) I'm a fairly new ballet fan, and I went to the opening night of Swan Lake in March and enjoyed myself so much that I have bought a last-minute ticket to go and see it again on Saturday evening. I wanted to be closer to the front to see a bit more of the acting side of things this time as was way up in the Amphitheatre last time, but the only ticket I could grab was a restricted view (it's seat C17 in the Stalls). It looks from the photo on the website that the view isn't actually that restricted at all, but was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on how much of the performance I'm likely to miss? Many thanks!
  2. Although we have a separate thread on the recent transmission of the Royal Ballet School's "Peter and the Wolf" , I thought I'd start an overarching thread for all the Royal Opera House's "Our House To Your House" showings. I am, unsurprisingly, loving seeing the Royal Opera/Royal Ballet coproduction of Acis and Galatea again Ed Watson will be making an appearance soon (well, heck, sorry, I've been suffering withdrawal symptoms)
  3. I have managed to get hold of an orchestra stalls row C seat for RB Swan Lake- can anyone advise please as to if the view is good so close to the stage, are the dancers' feet visible or is it too close? I am quite short so hoping I'll still be able to see their feet!
  4. Hi All! Hopefully this is in the correct forum, new to the site! Does anyone have any pictures of the view of the stage from the standing spots in the stalls circle at the Royal Opera House? Just trying to gauge if the Grand Tier above impacts the full view of the stage as I can only find the pictures from the Royal Opera House website and I feel like if you're leaning on the bar rather than fully standing you'd have a less obstructed view than what the Royal Opera House pictures show (FYI I'm in seats D36-39, not D7 per the picture I've included but I couldn't find a way to select any of these seats to show the view after purchase). Thanks!
  5. Scroll down The Royal Opera House's upcoming Cinema Season will comprise an astonishing 13 productions, eight of which will be broadcast to screens across the globe. Audiences have the best seat in the house – sharing the joy of live performance, and the beauty of world class art, at cinemas in more than 50 countries around the world. Booking opens soon. Check the website of your local cinema to purchase tickets. https://www.roh.org.uk/about/cinema Winter's Tale in UK only
  6. Spring 24 Booking opened for general Friends today - Got all that I wanted and service - once in - (the three dots waiting for the waiting room did seem to sputter rather) - went fairly smoothly. It does seem a bit strange to congratulate a service for simply doing its job .... but I suppose the situation has in the past been so dire that with the ROH - much akin to TFL who are very good at congratulating themselves - that such is I suppose a matter of achievement. Somehow I feel this is a rather sad reflection of the times we seem to live in hereabouts at this juncture.
  7. Not on the website yet but the Telegraph at least thinks it's launched Antonio Pappano: ‘I happily embrace diversity – just don’t blame us for having been bad people’ (telegraph.co.uk) "Covent Garden is today going some way to combating such concerns. They are launching Royal Opera House Stream, a new streaming service on a monthly subscription basis where you can access productions from the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet archive. Forty-five archive productions will be available from today; with new films of performances of Wayne MacGregor’s new ballet The Dante Project and Rigoletto also being unveiled this month."
  8. Morning! I’m new here so I hope I’ve posted this question in the right place I am hoping to take my 8 year old to see the Nutcracker this Christmas. It’s a special treat so I’d really like to get the best possible seats so she can see everything. I’m thinking a matinee show so it’s not too late. i wondered where people would recommend sitting with a younger child? I imagine she might end up with someone tall in front of her if we sat in the stalls. And do the matinee tickets sell out very quickly on release day? Is it worth doing the tour as well? would really appreciate any advice! This is very new territory for me as she pulls me into her ballet world! thank you
  9. Wondering if forum members can help with a decision - I have a SCS ticket(D2) and also managed to get C22 in Friday Rush, which I now see has a somewhat restricted view! Can anyone who has stood/sat in approximately these places advise which might be better?!! Very much appreciated!!
  10. The full season press release is too long to reproduce here but it is attached. ROH season.pdf
  11. Hello I’m looking for two tickets for Don Quixote at Royal Opera House on 11th November at 7pm. If anyone is thinking of selling could you please contact me. My son is in the show and his grandmother would love to come and watch him. She lives overseas and can only attend on this date but it is sold out. Thanks in advance.
  12. Just to say that I had a very smooth booking experience this morning; after so many problems in the past, it feels like worth recording that!
  13. I’m quite new to opera, so far I’ve seen: Tosca (loved it, made me cry), Don Giovanni (very busy and entertaining), L'elisir d'amore (lovely) and The Magic Flute (nice singing, story slight strange, I’m still not quite sure what was going on). I’m booked for La Traviata (favourite opera so far, but not yet seen live) and Rigoletto. Of the others coming up at ROH what’s a newbie going to like? Macbeth or Nabucco? I guess The Marriage of Figaro is a must see? I’ve got a fairly short attention span so nothing too heavy 😄. And I’ll be booking another Tosca. Angela Gheorghiu is one of the few opera singers I’ve heard of 😁, so I guess there’ll be heavy demand for her performances? I appreciate any guidance.
  14. Hello! I am travelling from Australia and have managed to secure 3x standing tickets to the Nutcracker this year. I just want to ask if anyone can offer any information if there are any places to sit between acts etc? I am bringing my 10 year old and so want her to be able to have a little rest in between. We have never been to ROH before. Thankyou so much!
  15. Is anyone else having a problem booking today? I get sent round in circles, getting through the queue, choosing a date, being sent back to the list page and the thrown back into the queue. Getting frustrated ......
  16. I don't know if it will merit a new thread, but I thought I'd say that booking went very smoothly for me this morning. The only small wrinkle was that the seat map was quite slow to load, but it didn't prevent me from being pleased with my haul.
  17. Hello I hope I didn’t post this in the wrong place. We plan on going to the ROH to see a ballet in November (most probably Sleeping Beauty) for the 1st time. And I need help with choosing the seats left. I am willing to pay more if the seats do actually make a difference. From what I gathered it’s better to be sat in the middle part of the ROH because of the horseshoe shape so the options are: - Amphitheatre Row C62 - C61 - Stalls Circle Row C63-64 (no option in the grand tier) It would be great to have recommendations from people who know the ROH seats. Thanks!
  18. Am I right in thinking there's nowhere on the ROH website where you can currently check the view from each seat?
  19. Does anyone know what the view from B73 balcony standing is like please? Thinking of booking for the scenes de ballet triple bill at ROH. Thanks in advance.
  20. Sorry if this is the wrong thread but anyone else currently getting a technical error for the swan lake page in advance of friends booking opening today? Hope it's fixed very soon...
  21. I am just about to buy tickets to the Nutcracker, but can only afford seats at the back of the amphitheatre. I was wondering, brutally, if it is worth it? The only other time I was at the ROH was for an opera, and there were subtitles so location mattered less. Will they put the ballet up on screens for people to see at the back? Will we be able to see anything? Any advice would help. Thanks so much!
  22. Hi All, Not sure where this question sits but I'm sure someone will move it to the more relevant place if needed I'm wondering if anyone can help me with ROH seating. It looks like there are seats for price ranges £66, £45, £30 - this is looking at Sleeping Beauty on the 11th Jan but when I select the price range it doesn't highlight the seats in question. Can anyone tell me where abouts these seats are please? Is this because they are not on sale as yet? Also, out of the lower price categories is there anywhere that would be recommended for seating? Its for an Adult and a 10 year old. I have never set foot in the ROH so really unsure in my research!! Thanks very much ETA another question on the Royal Ballet - will they likely tour any of these productions? We are Manchester based.
  23. I’m thinking of sneaking off to see Giselle on Friday while the kids are at school. I have a choice of standing in the back of the stalls circle near the light box D28, C61 - a loose seat at back of balcony, H72 or H43 amphitheater view obstructed by ledge or L71 mid right amphitheatre. Other than that it would be the slips. I’m wanting to get some cheaper seats this time as I’m saving my pennies to see Marianela in swan lake next spring. This will be the first time I’ve been to the Opera House since childhood so I’m very excited but have no idea if any of the above seats are any good - hoping some kind person will help. The roh don’t seem to have the ‘view from your seat’ pictures like they used to either.
  24. Need help!!!! CALLING ALL THE BALLET / ROYAL OPERA HOUSE LOVERS!!! So I have booked my first EVARRRR nutcracker show at the Royal Opera house, London. SO I AM SUPER EXCITED!!!!!! I am attaching my seating arrangement below: Now I need advice if these are:- 1. Are these good seats? 2. Are we going to sit or stand? As the description sounds like we are gonna be uncomfy. 3. Do you lovely ladies have any pictures of the stage from these seats? 4. Do I need to dress up? 5. If I do need to dress up, then what is the dress code? 6. Send me dress up inspos, pleaseeee!!!!
  25. I am visiting the ROH for the first time in many years. We will be making the journey from Cornwall by train and back by sleeper. I was wondering what other people's experiences were of getting a cab after the performance - with covid we prefer this option Also I see the Cloakroom is not open so if I am wearing a coat and have a small bag .... I am not sure what to expect. Can I just sit on my coat? Sounds trivial but I like to plan every detail.
