Hi, I’m 15 years old (born in September so I’m almost 16). I am in year 10 now and will be auditioning for colleges in year 11. Recently I have been attending lots of associate program auditions; I was accepted into ballet boost seniors but rejected to enb and csb. I still have my rambert audition tomorrow. I am not sure what to do as csb is my dream college (realistically. I’d LOVE rbs but I’m not sure if I’m talented enough so my dad told me to reduce my expectations, and I chose csb. I’ve done lots of research and it seems like the perfect school for me). I’m a bit heartbroken as I’m not sure what to do now, I have about 6 months before the audition for the college, and if I can’t make it into the associates, I’m not sure how I’ll make it to the college. They don’t respond with feedback either, so there’s no way to know what I need to work on in this limited time too. Does anyone have any advice? What do colleges look for? And especially csb and enb. I’ve tagged my top schools, however I will be audition for a few others, but they include musical theatre which isn’t me so I’d prefer the tagged schools. I’ve just taken my intermediate RAD exam too (literally yesterday) and have already been training in advanced 1 for a while. Thank you so much for any advice you can give, I’m a little stressed and overwhelmed right now 😅

Dd loved Rambert summer school last year, but the dates clash with another commitment this year. Can anyone recommend something similar? Ideally lots of contemporary, some jazz and ballet. She’ll be 15 by then, and in terms of level she’s done Intermediate in ballet. We’re London based but would consider something residential depending on cost / location / curriculum / safeguarding.

I've just got home from watching Rambert's 'Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Tommy Shelby.' What an amazing show. Fantastic, creative and and exciting choreography. Brilliant staging. A great score which was mostly original music, but in keeping with the spirit of the music used in the TV show and was played by a live band on stage. Definitely not something you would take your Granny to...or your kids. But maybe all the better for it. And the theatre was packed, with a very varied audience. Well done Rambert for creating something to bring ballet to a wider audience.

On the way back from this interesting ballet/dance. A mix of film and live dance on the themes of loss and refugees. The film told the story and the dance the emotion. I am left travelling home with the rhythm, small staccato moves and thoughts of what it it is like to lose so much and yet the expression of it becomes beautiful. -
I have sent an application form off for my DD to apply to audition at Rambert for sixth form. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to reply?

Hi all, I'd love some opinions on Rambert please. My dd is researching degree courses for Sept. 2019 and has always had Ballet West Scotland first on her list. However, she has recently discovered that Rambert have a degree course in Ballet and Contemporary which sounds perfect. Her goals are to eventually become a member of a Ballet Company with Contemporary under her belt. She does not want to go the Musical Theatre route, she is classical ballet all the way but she does enjoy contemporary. I would be so grateful to hear your views on this course and the school in general. We are not from the UK so funding and accommodation are mysteries to us!

Dd is faced with a decision between Laine and Rambert. She slightly preferred Rambert, but employment prospects seem to be better for Laine (although mostly non-classical, they do have 3 graduates in the current run of Bourne’s Cinderella, including the lovely Cordelia Braithwaite). Does anyone on here have any experiences of Laine that they could share? Does anyone have any knowledge of Rambert graduate destinations in 2017? We are yet to hear from RCS - which may muddy the waters even further!

I'm 19, and completely love ballet, I know I'm way to late to get into a company so I thought about teaching or pre-professional. I love the idea of the degree that Rambert offer as there is no upper age limit however it's 2 and 1/2 hours away from me. When I noticed EBS sixth Form but then I ruled it out due to it being 16-18. I would love to study dance full time. I currently do intermediate RAD and pointe but that's only 2 hours a week as that's all the ballet for my age my school offers. My question is, is there any point putting in the effort and auditioning if I'm going to be 19/20 by the time I start? Also if I did study dance, does the chance decrease of performing and teaching the older you get? I would of loved to if done it younger but we just didn't have the finances. Any advice would be sooo helpful as I'm stressing out Thanks

Whilst the ROH was resounding with the noise (as some say) of a new McGregor piece, Sadler's Wells was filled last night with a fine performance of Haydn's ever colourful The Creation, providing the motive force for Mark Baldwin's contemporary work for Rambert. This had been premiered at Garsington Opera back in the summer, using the same Gothic tracery screen, behind which sat an orchestra and chorus (the BBC Singers), with conductor (Paul Hoskins) and soloists visible in arched openings. So, on that foundation, and with Sarah Tynan, James Gilchrist and Neal Davie in front, the music was never less than assured. For his choreography, Mark Baldwin had elected to "go beyond pure interpretation and into the realm of pure dance." To my mind, he succeeded only in part, and I'm left uncertain whether contemporary movement is enough to sustain a work of this length - and there were moments when some very odd poses were being struck, surely of some significance to him, but rather lost on me. But, on the whole, it was worth seeing - and certainly worth hearing - and it clearly went down well with the audience. -

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has put in their rambert school application form yet? They have the form on the website to download but it is impossible to fill it in on word document (I think it may be locked or something) ! Is anyone else having this problem?
