  1. Please ask questions about Upper School/6th Form auditions in this thread. Do also make use of the "search" facility (top right of the forum pages) in case your question has been asked before. :-) I apologise for not tagging all Upper Schools but tags are limited in number. If anyone has questions or info about auditions at schools not listed, please do post anyway. Thanks, Spanner
  2. Hi all, I was curious about the audition process for 24/25 Elmhurst Upper School. As my DD is from afar (Canada), we will be submitting a video audition and am curious as to what this would entail. Can anyone share experiences, or help me to understand what would happen as she has selected the video audition option (we would not be able to attend in person). Thanks in advance!
  3. We are just at the very beginning of this journey and I was wondering if anyone could advise on the best age for vocational school? Year 7 seems very young but are you less likely to find a place in year 9. Cost would be a major issue for us and my initial feeling is the later the better but I don't want my daughter to miss out if the potential is there, a big if I realise
  4. Just a question 1st time at applying to Elmhurst SI for my dd, has anybody heard if they have a place yet for this. Thank you 😊
  5. Can anyone tell me what the fees, excluding boarding and before all the extras such as exam fees, are for Elmhurst 6th form please? Can't seem to find the information on the website. I'm assuming its not just as straightforward as deducting a day place from a boarding place? Although the figures I have for that are from last year.
  6. Hi, I’m 15 years old (born in September so I’m almost 16). I am in year 10 now and will be auditioning for colleges in year 11. Recently I have been attending lots of associate program auditions; I was accepted into ballet boost seniors but rejected to enb and csb. I still have my rambert audition tomorrow. I am not sure what to do as csb is my dream college (realistically. I’d LOVE rbs but I’m not sure if I’m talented enough so my dad told me to reduce my expectations, and I chose csb. I’ve done lots of research and it seems like the perfect school for me). I’m a bit heartbroken as I’m not sure what to do now, I have about 6 months before the audition for the college, and if I can’t make it into the associates, I’m not sure how I’ll make it to the college. They don’t respond with feedback either, so there’s no way to know what I need to work on in this limited time too. Does anyone have any advice? What do colleges look for? And especially csb and enb. I’ve tagged my top schools, however I will be audition for a few others, but they include musical theatre which isn’t me so I’d prefer the tagged schools. I’ve just taken my intermediate RAD exam too (literally yesterday) and have already been training in advanced 1 for a while. Thank you so much for any advice you can give, I’m a little stressed and overwhelmed right now 😅
  7. Hi can anyone offer a comparison for both of these schools? How many other classes do elmhurst offer in addition to ballet thank you
  8. I’m interested to know if anyone knows, or can point me to where to find out, the Upper School destinations of these schools’ students, this year and maybe for the past few years? I know White Lodge has been discussed on the forum for RBS Upper School but haven’t seen where they do go, and am at a loss on where to start on the others. Apologies if there’s a thread I’ve missed. thanks!
  9. I was wondering around when would people think the elmhurst summer intensive audition results would be!
  10. Hi- We sent in an application for EBS SI and this may sound like a basic question but was there an application fee or a return confirmation email once submitted? A confirmation # flashed on screen but I didn't receive a confirmation email. I emailed them to inquire but haven't heard back. Also, as an aside, any experiences with Elmhurst Si for a 13 yr old. It says its a three day intensive only so curious how much dancing is involved and if there are levels. Thanks!
  11. I am looking for basic information about Elmhurst Upper School. Is it very competitive to gain admission to the Upper School Level 12? Are the academics manageable? Do most graduates obtain professional contracts? Approximately how many "assess out" during those last two or three years? What level participates in the Elmhurst Ballet Company? Are there really opportunities to work with BRB? What are the Elms lodging facilities like? I have read many comparisons with RBS, what about Canada NBS? Is one program better than the other? Any big differences to be considered? Thanks for any help!
  12. I was just wondering whether anyone had heard about their application yet? Thanks 😊
  13. Hi - does anyone know if dancers can audition for upper schools such as Tring and Elmhurst at 17 - one year after GCSE or have they missed their chance if they don’t go immediately after GCSE?
  14. Hi, I just wondered if there were any parents of kids doing the boys finals next week at Elmhurst? Specifically auditioning for year 10.
  15. My DC is yr6 and so we will soon be embarking on the whirlwind of vocational school applications and auditions which if I’m honest, I’m a bit apprehensive of the rollercoaster ride of emotions I’ve heard it to be. im still unsure whether I’d actually want my DC to attend a vocational school even though they really want to if they were lucky enough to be offered a place. So I’m looking for first hand experiences of the good , the bad and the ugly of your children’s experiences of vocational training at one of those 3 schools (feel free to DM me) so that I can go into this all with open eyes before making informed decisions as we have no experience of vocational schools, what it’s really like living away from home from 11 , the schooling , the training etc so feel a bit clueless as to what we’d really be in for if indeed we were lucky enough and decided to take this route. I’m hoping that by hearing some of your honest experiences , we may have more of an idea of whether to actually even try to go for auditions or whether to decide as a family that it’s not for us. Thanks
  16. I’m currently in year ten, I go to a very good academic school and my predicted grades are very high. My parents want me to stay at my current school for sixth form, but I want to apply for Elmhurst. I’ve only been dancing for two years, but I’ve already begun pointe and intermediate foundation. I also don’t look like the most typical dancer, so my parents are doubtful. We are also a quite low income family but my dad has a good pension so I don’t think I’d be eligible for any funding and obviously they wound pay much in terms of fees. They’ve already made it clear that I will have to get the train to school and they won’t help me with transport. Any advice ps sorry for the long post
  17. Hi, would love some more information on this when are the audition dates/ entry dates? What’s the usual entry requirements? Where are the centres? (We are near to Manchester) What days do they run? My DD got to the final for white lodge but wasn’t successful in gaining a place so looking at other options for her whilst waiting to hear back about RBS MA. She is not an associate anywhere currently. Any info appreciated. Thanks
  18. Elmhurst young dancer tracksuit new style jacket age 10-12 and leggings age 9-10 hardly worn due to covid £40 Bloch leotard age 12 ( comes up small) £10
  19. I’m writing to ask if anyone could please share their experience with Elmhurst and how they found the school. My dd has been offered a place but we don’t know a lot of the school, it would be very appreciated!
  20. Hi Have found this forum really helpful as I'm a newbie dance parent. So asking after your wealth of knowledge and experience once again. Whilst my child ponders her yr7 direction and is looking to audition for various vocational schools, which the short list is now Elmhurst, RB, Hammond and Tring... lol got to love the enthusiasm! 😂 so whilst mentally going through my dance hit bank account I am wondering if we should even go to the expensive and logistics of the Elmhurst prelims as she was turned down for the Young dancers video audition? She was offered YD last year but we had to turn it down. DD is an RBS JA and her W/L prelims will be done at the MA audition. My thinking is because she got in YD last year but not this year, that maybe this signals the end of the journey with Elmhurst?? I really can't fathom all this out 😂😂 Thoughts or previous experiences please as my head hurts thinking about it now haha (DD is fully aware that it's all highly competative)
  21. I've enjoyed reading topics on this forum for a few years and I've become intrigued about something and that's what the schools look for because it seems to me it's not easy to work out! 🤣 So for getting an offer for finals, for examplea child can get a yes for Hammond but a no for Tring, does it happen the other way around? Or a no for Tring but yes for Elmhurst? or visa versa. Would one yes mean more yesses. So is a no from a school a good yard stick for the other schools? but not all? I'm really unexperienced in this 🤣 Or do all 4 schools look for something different and you just can't second guess, or work out what they may do? I've also read on here that RBS is the one where no one seems to be able to second guess! Sorry for the ignorance!! Just interested and what no's form one dance school for DC might mean for the other schools applied for. I love this forum because there is so much experience and expertise on it 😁 I find it all really interesting.

  25. My dd did Elmhurst Junior summer school last year and I re applied for this year. I received an email in the middle of March saying they’ll let us know if it’s going ahead at the end of May. To anyone else that has had this email, will they also be offering the places out at the same time or does the email mean they have a place should the course go ahead?
