Love the forum, thank you to Jan and the people who run it. My daughter has done a couple of EYB productions before and we are wondering whether Cinderella in Hollywood is as nice as the others. Hard to tell from the mini video if the music and costumes are as lovely as Swan Lake and Coppelia. Any thoughts welcome please! My daughter is 12, what kind of parts are for this age?

Hello, I’m new here! I’ve been reading the forum and found it so informative. I am looking for advice for my daughter - she is 10 and about to start Year 6. She attends our local dance school where she does ballet twice a week, as well as tap, acro, modern and musical theatre. She absolutely loves dancing. She recently successfully auditioned for the English Youth Ballet. I have been looking into options for extra training for her, alongside her regular classes. Her dance school offered extra associate type classes for some students until earlier this year but those have stopped for now. I’ve been looking at the various associate classes (we are in the South East) and I’ve booked her into the RBS insight day in September. At 10 is she already too old for me to be looking into this? Her current aim is to train in musical theatre not ballet specifically, but she loves ballet and wants to continue to a high level. Are associate programmes only for those who plan to apply for vocational ballet training? I would also appreciate any suggestions for holiday courses. She did some local dance school summer camps this year but she was too old for them really. Thank you from a newbie trying to navigate this world!

Hello! I have a 13 year-old student auditioning for English Youth Ballet next month, which is a first for my ballet school. Is anyone able to tell me what sort of thing they are likely to be asked to do in the audition/ what they're looking for? Thank you!

Hi... can anyone tell me how competitive EYB is normally ie usual number of applications and those successful? My DD is keen to apply (High Wycombe) but having just received disappointing news from JA's not sure I have the heart to put her through another rejection if odds are stacked highly against her! I have just submitted the online audition videos for my DD. It's our first time auditioning for anything ballet related. DD and I found making the videos really hard! Anyone else apply? How did you find making the video?

Does anyone else have children who have successfully auditioned for the November EYB performance of the Nutcracker? My nine year old found out that she has a place on Tuesday afternoon (she’s very excited) but all of her friends are still waiting to hear...

Hi all I just thought that I would start a thread to find out if anyone/anyone's children were going to be in EYB Cinderella in Hollywood in Darlington (or another location?). If so this might be a useful place to 'meet', share info etc. Also, if anyone has done this ballet, I would love to hear more about it. I have a junior girl... Can anyone please tell me if English youth ballet still do a full scholarship it says half on their website . I know there used to be a full one awarded as my friends daughter was lucky to receive it a couple of times . Just wanted to check before I apply as I have three dancing daughters which is getting rather costly !

I was having a look at the EYB auditions page and saw they’ve got audition dates for Bromley and Southend: http://www.englishyouthballet.co.uk/auditions1.html Nothing near enough for us yet, but they are for performances in April, May and August, so I assume they’re still nailing down the dates / venues for June and July.

Hello, I have a 7 year old son who would like to audition for EYB in Aylesbury. My much older daughter has done EYB several times in the past but the last junior audition she attended was was too long ago to remember! My son is in G1 and will just have turned 8. My question is will he know enough ballet content to keep up at the audition? I know the age range is 8-11 but there will be a huge difference in ability at that age. Thank you.

What are the roles available in auroras wedding and ballet Etudes? My daughters 9.

This may be a bit early but we are very excited that DS is doing this! Based on the main thread there are at least two others on here who are doing it. It will be great to be in touch especially as we aren’t able to make the casting day.

Does anyone know what the parts are for juniors and seniors in swan Lake ? i have several pupils at casting day today . I’d like to be able to tell them a bit about their parts ! Presume seniors are swans ! Thank you

Hi, I am trying to find out more info about English Youth Ballet as I keep reading about it on here but I can't find much info on their website. Can anyone please explain? Is it a weekly class or do you just do a set number of classes then 1 performance? If a set number roughly how long does it last and how many classes are there? What day is it usually on? Would it clash with Saturday associate classes? Thanks in advance!

Their stock seems to be low and it was mentioned that it would be a few weeks off before they have any more in, and my dancer would like one desperately! Thank you! x

So new EYB dates are out I'm so happy that one of them is near enough to me that I can audition! P.S. Does anybody know what the auditions (particularly the senior auditions) entail? I know it is just a class, but 1h 45 mins is quite a long class. I can imagine it would be very busy! For any kids taking part, Miss Lewis offers a private assessment for those considering vocational training. It's done one to one with a written report at the end for a reasonable fee. She's incredibly honest and will tell you if it's worth spending time and money to persue it. My DD was a little nervous before hers but she really put her at ease. For us it was definitely worth the money.

Hi can anyone give me a heads up? My daughter has developed a love of ballet, shes been dancing for nearly 3 years and managed to achieve a distinction in both her pre primary and primary exams. For her to be able to gain more experience her teacher suggested she should audition for EYB (they are performing on our doorstep). Ive put the application in, but so nervous for her as this is the first time shes done anything like this 😣 Could anyone let me know their experience with them, what sort of things do they get them to do in the audition (dd is currently working on grade 1 atm so is still imature in that sense), do you know straight away if you have been successful? Hi my DD is doing Coppélia with EYB at Rickmansworth and the casting audition is on Tuesday. Does anyone know what to expect as she’s quite nervous. Also do any of you know what parts she may get? She just turned 15, is on pointe and she’s 5’3/5’4. Thanks! Xx

I wonder if anyone can let me know what happens at the EYB casting day. I have read the other threads and can't find the answer to my specific question so thought I would start a new one I hope that is OK? DD got through the audition which I watched along with the other parents. The casting takes longer than the audition and runs from 4pm-8pm and I wondered if parents are expected to stay during that time to watch the proceedings or whether the expectation is that parents drop dancer off and then leave? Thank you
