  1. Hi Wondered if anyone had been successful in finding student digs for the ENB Summer two week programme. DD will be 16 but is used to cooking/cleaning and fending for herself. Would appreciate any links/words of wisdom etc! Thank you
  2. Hi All, I’ve tried the search option but there seems to be very little topics about the school. Maybe I am searching incorrectly! We have experience of the ENB Junior programme they had, but not much else. If anyone has information they could share or point me to the Threads that already discuss this, that would be lovely. Happy for people to DM too. Thanks!
  3. Would any members please have any reviews or opinions of this school? I have been offered a place there but I can't find anything online from people's personal experiences - if you'd rather message directly thats no problem at all, I just really need some opinions good or bad! Thanks
  4. Hello newbie here but I’ve been reading for ages. My DD has got through to the Central finals which is great. But it isn’t until the end of April and if successful we won’t know until May which is quite late and later than normal I’ve heard. She is only 16 and I understand there aren’t many options for accommodation at 16. Is it worth looking into options now as a just in case. I’m just worried that places could go very quickly. Is anyone else in the same situation? Also does any one know how many usually get put through to the finals? Central is her first choice so doing as much research as I can. Thanks
  5. Hi - does anyone know of any cheap safe accommodation in central london? it doesn't need to be fancy just safe for a 17/18 year old for the occasional night when attending classes etc in Covent Garden.
  6. DNB are going to be performing their new Raymonda again this December (pitching it as the perfect Christmas ballet which is interesting). I really want to see a traditional telling of the story so am seriously contemplating a couple of days in Amsterdam. Any recommendations for reasonably priced hotels local to the opera house? How small (and walkable) is Amsterdam? What is a must see other than Anne Frank's house and how does that work in terms of proximity to opera house area? Any help greatly appreciated. Editing to add: Any advice on auditorium seating would also be a help. I'd probably look at top 2 pricing tiers for this.
  7. Good afternoon! I was wondering which good European summer intensives are good quality and do also have boarding? The ones I have found so far: UK: Yorkshire Ballet Seminars UK: Royal Ballet School UK: Elmhurst Ballet School France: Rosella Hightower Cannes France: Paris Opera Ballet School France: Princess Grace The Netherlands: National Ballet Academy Any others I am missing? Thanks in advance for the info!
  8. Does anyone have any experience of either of these? My daughter is keen to try one and has heard of the Masterclasses from friends. Are they both equally good? She is 16 and at pre-vocational level hoping to commence vocational training in September 2023. i was wondering about the faculty, accomodation, level of difficulty and fun! Many thanks
  9. Hi, does anyone have experience of Chester House for LSC students? Just doing a bit of research before final decisions on where for DD? She’s decided not to do further auditions and look at her offers. What a busy time for all! Thx 👍🏻
  10. Hi Everyone - I have had to cancel my daughter's room at Drapery Place London UK (Unite Students) it's available for the 2023/24 school term. Due to already paying a deposit - it is my responsibility to find a student who would like to move into the room. Please contact me if are interested. Kind regards Gillian
  11. Hey how long does it take to hear back about my daughter she had her audition Monday? And does a call back mean they have got a place? Thank you all x
  12. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions for hostel or cheaper hotels/B&B that might be suitable and not far away from Covent Garden’s, maybe with other participants staying? Or does someone want to share an AirBnB? First 2weeks. Thanks 🙏 Anja
  13. Hello all DD2 is off to LSC in Sept. She had hoped to stay in Chester House, but it is full and has a very long waiting list. They advised she book someplace else. Does anybody have any recommendations of other Halls that are popular with LSC dancers? It seems that I should have made a booking immediately after audition, rather than waiting for her to choose her course. Ah well, can’t turn back the clock.
  14. We’re just tentatively researching accomodation for September start . Does anyone have any recommendations or anywhere to avoid please. Thank you!
  15. Hi all, I was wondering if any parents of current diploma students (mainly dance - but I'm sure MTs could help too!) or students themselves would mind advising me on a few things - either below or via dm? We had a really useful zoom call this week regarding new starter info, and I'm aware that there are future sessions planned for specific topics, but I'd love to try and understand a bit more sooner rather than later - so if anyone could fill in the gaps, that would be really appreciated I also know the school can be slow to reply to emails, so thought it would be quicker to ask on here! I'm also aware that things change year on year, so it may be that experiences differ. In terms of Hammond accommodation - it was mentioned that there were 3 blocks - lower secondary school, upper secondary school and then diploma/college. Are they all pretty much within the same area, or are they quite spread out over Chester? And what does the diploma block look like - is it single occupancy, ensuite or shared bathroom, kitchen etc? I think it was mentioned that some were being renovated, but not sure which these were. Does the Hammond school transport also take the diploma/college students to the school site? And is it mainly 1st years that stay in Hammond accommodation, or can the 2nd and 3rd years also remain there? Faculty - we know a couple of members of staff from other associates, but don't feel we know enough about them. Would love to hear a bit more really - very general question I know, but keen to find out. Uniform - do diploma students have to have certain items - e.g. certain colour dancewear, or is it dancer's choice? I think they're all our burning questions for now - but would love to hear about how those who have studied their recently have found the course and faculty etc. Thanks!
  16. We’re deciding this month which upper schools DD will be applying for and I need help from current parents to try and work out how much we’ll need to pay on top of fees ( I have worked out our Dada contribution if DD is lucky enough to get one). I’d be really grateful if anyone who has children at the following schools ( or who have recently left) could DM me with roughly how much rent/food etc cost per month. Tring NBS RCS KS Dance Hammond BTUK thanks in advance 🙏
  17. Hello, first time post from a nervous Dad... My daughter has accepted a place at Northern Ballet School for September 2021. The euphoria of getting in is now giving way to anxiety about living away from home in the middle of Manchester at 16! Especially the accommodation, sharing the building with older students etc. So I wondered if anyone else on here has a child going there? And anyone who is there now or has been there recently who could offer any advice about the accommodation in particular - and anything else too! Many thanks.
  18. Hello, DS has a place at Central . I'm looking at Liberty House (Walmsley house) as one of the options. He would be looking to share (to get the price down a bit!) Do we need to find a flatmate ourselves? Also does anyone know of any Homestay websites or where I can look?!! And the last thing the prices at IQ Paris Gardens (for a shared twin room is the price per person or room?.
  19. Hi, anyone know of any routes to try source accommodation for a 15 year old DD to enable attendance at ENBS Spring course - & possibly other things over next year too. Ideally to stay with another attendee so travelling to course with another/others. I cannot be there due to work commitments. As course is non residential I am trying all routes to make it possible.... have exhausted friends & family so am now asking the lovely Forum Family to see if anyone out there has the solution as am sure this is a common issue? Mobe thought I had was contributing to the AirBnB or similar cost of another dancing family booking accommodation or a commuting distance attendee whose family may have a spare room they would be happy to rent in bed & board basis? Hope it’s ok to explore this here... Thank you
  20. My DS is attending London Studio Centre for Summer School in July 2015 and is keen to try homestay. I did not realise that the homestay websites charge for enquiries, so I was keen to know if anyone else is hooked up with a homestay for the summer school and who they organsed this through? Many thanks for any advice

  22. Hi DD has been offered a place at Tring for September (letter has just arrived!). It says though that they can’t guarantee a boarding place yet. Is this normal? Is it safe to accept a day place (we live the other end of the country)?!
  23. Hi, My son is due to start ENBS in Sept. We have looked at various places to stay but all prove very costly. Do LYH accept students under 18 years of age ? If anyone has any information on hall, hostels etc id love to hear from you.
  24. Hello all. Thought it would be a good idea to start a new thread for those of us with DCs starting at Hammond in September to share advice etc. could we please have no discussion of finance as requested by the school. We don’t want locked again 😃
  25. Hello, My DS was offered a place at ENBS, he has 17 and we are looking for a place to live in London, or a student with a similar profile to share a room (from september). We are living in Toulouse, France. Any idea, or suggestion? I only sent a mail to the Holland house http://lhalondon.com/holland-house/ for the moment. How can we contact the new students in ENBS, they should have the same problem? thanks
