  1. Got our letter and DD wasn't given a scholarship but i did ring Tring and spoke to the head of drama as at her final audition he spoke to us and told us all our children had places at the school, and our letter completly went against that. He was very apologetic and told me that they were initally going to award dd a scholarhsip but there werent enough beds for everyone, and so looking at the finacial state of everyone in consideration they decided that it wasn't worth offering us the scholarhsip as it looked as if we couldn't accept the place anyway. I understand the reasoning but they were completly wrong, we would have been able to afford it and my husband was even willing to pay full fees so i am left feeling angry as DD is now in a state, her current school have told her she is useless to her face (beleive me, meetings have been had but have gotten no where, in fact when i mentioned her final at tring they just stared and asked why they should be impressed) so to hear she can't go to a school where she would have been able to persure her dream because they decided our financial state for us is really upsetting for her. Drama groups are few and far between here as are dance groups for her age and ability, and i feel so sorry for her. She knows that it is a set back which she will have to get over, but at our audition we were told she was in, that she'd got her place and she was the happiest she'd been in a long while; she was finally getting her chance. And now I feel actually slightly betrayed (is that the right word?) that we have been lied to our faces, and that she could have gone if Tring hadn't decided that we wouldn't be able to afford it without contacting us first.
  2. DD said the panel were lovely and praised her for carrying on and involving her cough and sneeze into her Hamlet speech!! Though she did say to me that they didn't ask her any questions like 'why do you want to come to tring' 'Are you a good leader' whereas she said that all the girls came out talking about all the questions they'd been asked. Not sure if that's a good or bad sign :/
  3. We live 4 hours away from Tring so are leaving early tomorrow morning, our doctors surgery closes in an hour so I wouldn't be able to make it and they are very peculiar about giving notes if it's only a days notice. It really is a croaky voice that would be holding her back so I'm not sure the doctors would even give me one, but wpuld they take it into consideration without one?
  4. Hope everyone is well, do continue to post your news! DD I feel is a little deflated after reading all the DADA results as she wasn't successful in her dance but she has her drama final tomorrow so i have told her to be positive. Unfortunately she has been off school all week suffering from a really bad cold/virus and her voice is so bad i'm wondering if it's going to affect her chances when doing her monologues. What does everyone think? Do you think they'll take into consideration that she's not at her best, because she's been so upset that she might blow her chance by being ill so i just want to reassure her without giving her false hope. Thanks again
  5. I hope everyone's funding auditions went well, let us know how it went, for you and for your DDs
  6. I'm afraid I can't help you with the audition question jazzpaws as it's our first year auditioning, however at the first auditions we were shown the girls boarding rooms. The were a couple 5 people rooms, some 4 people rooms, mostly 3 people rooms and a few 2 person rooms. However this is what I remember so when you add all the rooms together it doesn't seem to be a lot. Also, when we went for drama we were shown a 5 person room which had 4 upper sixth girls and the head girl in. I thought upper sixth lived off site? If lower sixth boarding is limited because upper sixth use it I shall not be happy.
  7. Lifeafterballet? I'm not sure I'm understanding you, because we've received the letters it means after the funding audition day/boarding places are given out with or without scholarship? If not what I'm not understanding is how those not invited to a funding audition can go (if they can afford it) but those invited to a funding audition, not receiving funding nor a normal place can't, as surely the funding auditonees are of higher standard? We didn't get ballet but drama, so maybe it's different for each course. I'm just highly confused, but lucky as DDs audition isn't until the 2nd week in march so I can figure this out. I just don't want DD, after recovering from not being accepted onto the ballet course, to not be offered a place at all if she doesn't receive funding.
  8. I was just wondering, If a child has been invited to attend a funding audition but they don't receive funding, are they still offered a normal place? I'm trying to work out if we could afford Tring regardless of the scholarship outcome.
  9. I think DD has come to terms with the shock and has decided to focus all her efforts on drama now, I'm secretly pleased as she does not have the flexibility for ballet and I didn't want to put her down on it. But I'm so glad we pushed her towards the drama audition!
  10. Congratulations dramascientist!! We got the letter today, it's a no for dance but a yes with fundin for drama!! DD doesn't quite know what to think as dance was her main thing but now she's really excited for her drama final! I think tring is trying to tell us something
  11. Hi there, all new to this!!! Dd auditioned for drama on the 17th and then dance on the 30th, and we still haven't heard anything for dance yet alone drama. DD said she'd talked to a girl at her drama audition and they said the results would be posted this week or next? Bit of a poor show as at the drama one we weren't told anything about results and the principal wasn't even there! I'm slightly panicking as it's dd's birthday on Monday and we are away, I don't want her elder sister ringing with bad news!! :/
