    I’ve never forgotten how Winifred has to go on stage because Pauline has been behaving badly backstage. I used it to point out to our dds that they must never behave like that. I’m pleased to say that they never did and it was appreciated by the professionals that they occasionally were onstage with as they were always asked back.

    In addition to auditioning for Pauline, my dd thought about auditioning for Posy but they wanted the level above Inter Foundation and confident pointe which my dd wasn’t then so she didn’t go for it. Then we found out later that the pointe scenes were intercut with another dancer so our dd lost out twice over.

    Our daughter auditioned for Pauline in that version and there were many girls there. A lot didn’t make the first cut because they were too old but what none of them knew was that Emma Watson had already been cast as Pauline. Why they went ahead with the audition is beyond me.

    What about Harlow Ballet, Angela? They used to do adult ballet classes.

    A friend in America used to see them regularly and rave about them. She even sent me a programme from one performance.

    I am so sorry to hear this, Michelle. I will keep you in my prayers. We've also had bad health news about our eldest daughter which has rocked us back on our heels.

    Our youngest daughter was five and went to see La Fille Mal Gardée at the Festival Hall. I told both of our daughters that if they both misbehaved that would be the last time we took them to the theatre. My youngest daughter was normally well behaved but our oldest daughter has ADHD and I was apprehensive. They both behaved beautifully and our youngest daughter was in a trance afterwards.

    I will always remember his Alain in Fille. He turned him into a tragic character rather than a buffoon. He was very touching.
