  1. Indeed - but I realised that as it's Nut season, any non-Nut tickets don't stand a chance!
  2. Hello, I've worked out that it's nearly six years since I was last at ROH, and I'd stopped going regularly several years before that. Add to that not having used Facebook for several years too, and I now have lots of front row seats for Ruination on Thursday which nobody seems to want. I was hoping for some actual advice on what my options are with these tickets; I hadn't realised that in these intervening years, ROH no longer deals with actual enquiries from members of the general public. Getting credit for the tickets is completely pointless for me as I won't be able to use it (the only show I've wanted to see was Light of Passage, so I bought a ticket for a friend instead), so if I'm stuck with this option, could someone "buy" the credit from me (at a reduced price - hey, winter sales! - i.e. use my account to use up the credit? Otherwise, are they actually still doing returning for resales? It sounds like this is only an option within 24 hours of the performance, but I wasn't sure if I could actually get the refund, especially if it took box office several days to reply to my enquiry about what to do with these tickets. And of course, if anyone would like one or more front row seats for Ruination this Thursday... <wink> (Disclaimer: I adore Ben Duke's work, and it would be wonderful to see some of my ex-Rambert friends, especially Miguel, plus yeay at front row seats, but I might end up having to catch a later train down, although that would still leave lots of tickets even if I do manage to see it.) Chantal
  3. I was overenthusiastic when spotting some good (front row) seats for Ruination later this month, so most of them now need new homes. I've bought A2 - A6 and A16 - A18, of which I probably only need two or three. They cost me £25 each, happy to accept less if they can be put to good use. It'll be my first ROH show since Flight Pattern....
  4. Due to deciding to stay up here in Scotland on the beach this week rather than coming down to London for a few shows, my ticket for this needs a new home. I'd really looked forward to seeing Dickson Mbi's, Stina Quagebeur's and Mthuthuzeli November's works on Northern Ballet. Seat is B4, cost me £27, I have no idea what secondhand tickets go for these days!
  5. I’m so so so sorry to hear this sad news about John - I only found out this afternoon through the tribute to him at the National Dance Awards. I didn’t know him very well, but I always enjoyed our conversations - and the one Balletco Christmas we shared, and I’ll always remember another photographer telling me what a legend he was in photocalls. He’ll be so very missed, and it’ll be so very sad not to see him at photocalls again. Thanks so much for sharing the news, Bruce.
  6. Hi all, I've got a front row of first circle to today's matinee, if anyone would like it; the ticket's at the box office. A14, £55.
  7. I only just saw this - have the tickets been returned now?
  8. Have you found anyone for this yet? A friend might be interested, I'm not sure what her budget is.
  9. I only just saw this thread - I assume it's a straight hire; Sadler's doesn't list shows which it hasn't directly programmed. I saw the company's Aladdin when they came to the Unicorn in 2011; Morgann's choreography is very fresh and sparkling, and I agree with hfbrew about the good dancers. I think there may be an old feature on choreographer Morgann Runacre-Temple on balletco - no need for more gushing from me! The company doesn't tour much outside Ireland, which is why we don't know more about them - and their PR has been very subdued!
  10. While I'd hate to repeat myself, there are other companies which do not permit any distribution of their photos beyond press purposes. Their fans do not suffer any loss because of this, and they have loyal fans throughout the country and sell-out shows, regardless of how many production photos they can view in advance. While many of use hate change, let's not overreact about this situation, and wait until ROH release a considered response to this situation, so that we can see what they are proposing instead. Above all, we have to remember that their openness about photography until now has been a gift and not a right, and again, it has been known for some time that it would be withdrawn.
  11. Photographers need to be affiliated with an agency, publication or accepted website in order to invited by ROH to photograph the dress rehearsals. This is true for the other major venues and companies, too. Normally, in other circumstances, the photos would be primarily for press purposes, but I understand that this is not the case for ROH. We'll have to see what their statement says, when it's released, and if they'll explain what provoked this - though as Bruce said at the top, this has been brewing for a while. It's bad timing for it to kick off at the start of a bank holiday weekend!
  12. It depends on the company; I'm fairly new to photocalls (I photograph for London Dance), but if we look at DanceTabs's, The Ballet Bag's and Elliott Franks's sites, we can see that most of them are fairly open about this, while others such as Rambert state that the photos can be used for press purposes only.
  13. Actually, many of the photographers are unpaid, and will only get paid if any of their photos are bought. Dave Morgan, Alice Pennefather and others give up a lot of their time - both photographing and post-processing - to provide these photos without receiving any payment, and the question is how many of them will continue to put all that work in for only three photos which they can display.
  14. My understanding, from the tiny bit I've heard, is that they're trying to clamp down on people posting photos in unauthorised galleries or for their own self-promotion and profit; some companies have very strict rules on how and where photos of them can be used. And as they can't just clamp down on one set of photographers and not all, this seems to me why they're scaling back the photo allowance for DanceTabs, for example (an "authorised gallery".)
